I recognize wipe out hill. I ran it on Tuesday, and the long wheelbase crawled up with ease compared to a lot of the wranglers.

We just missed you. We ran on Monday. Down and back up again. Absolutely amazed at how well Gladis performed last week on all trails. Slow and steady she clawed her way up everything we threw at her.

To say that most were impressed and put some JT opinions to rest. Wife said it was a good combo of great vehicle and driver ? This girl lovvvvvveeesss To climb.

Great shot you going up ??

Probably passed each other at some point. Same here on being impressed with JT. I’ve been to Moab before on 35s, but the 3” lift and 37s was a new ballgame being able to also do Poison Spider, Metal Masher, and Hells Revenge

It honestly doesn’t look like that deep of mud/water. When it enters it displaces a large amount of initial water creating a wave at the front of the vehicle. If you look at the side of the photo the water is roughly at the base of the door and well below the rated water crossing level.
You're exactly right, that water level visible on the side gives a pretty good idea of the standing depth, well below the rated 30" or so.

Granted, I did intentionally pick a picture that does exaggerate the severity of the water hazard, but I'm surprised at some of the fearful reactions from fellow Jeep owners. Compared to some of the rock crawling pics and vids I've seen on this forum, a brief water crossing below the manufacturers specified maximum seems pretty tame to me.

Nice pics AZCooWhip and StingyJT
Those don't look all that risky, but they do look like alot of fun! Doubt my stock Overland could make those.

Yes! Game changer indeed. We kept to a 5 or less. Only had the new set up for a couple of weeks and didn’t want to stress her too much until a good break in period ...ha!

We plan on going back up in September and will run those 3 as well. You have inspired me that much more. ?

Send me a message when you head back up there. I’m in Salt Lake, so it’s 3.5 hours drive for me. Since you tackled wipe out hill, you can handle the others.

Not wheels-deep in mud, but my Overland did absolutely everything the other 50 Jeeps or so did at last weekend's Jeep Adventure Academy in Wickenburg, AZ - with absolutely no issues (which was not the case for some Jeeps that had more lift/tire than mine, surprisingly). Just a few clips -

Kudos to you for getting dirty and wheeling.

Kudos for you wheeling it. I don’t understand the people that buy a 4x4 truck and are afraid to touch even a dirt road. I truly have more dents and scratches from shopping carts than I’ve gotten from off-roading.

Guess it makes about as much sense as paying $50K for a capable off road vehicle and using it to get groceries.

Believe it or not, it wasn't nearly as bad as all that. Water was only about 2ft at the deepest, but the bow wave displaced did come over the hood for about 5 secs. Pic was grabbed from a video, I just picked the gnarliest looking frame to screen grab. A group of 5 Gladiators and 3-4 JLs/JKs ran it before we did, including a stock Sahara. We rode about 15 more miles of trail after that, then another 50 miles or so back home. Started up and ran fine for the next morning's trip to the car wash too, so there don't seem to have been any ill effects.
Don't get me wrong......I'm not against YOU doing that, and I have done such things in my early days before I had to pay for any damages.......I'm just a bit more thoughtful of things I do to things that I now have to pay to repair. It does look cool as hell, in a sadistic sort of way.

Do you feel the same about crawling?
LOL.....I feel that way about ANYthing that is real likely to cause bigtime damages to things that I have to pay for. That said, I ride a motorcycle, and I skydive, so.......

Anytime you run with mud/muddy water coming over the hood is bad ju-ju!

With that said, Overlands are quite capable!

Nice to see other Overlands out wheeling, keep the pics coming!

I wonder if Anyone else on here was up at Tray mountain, GA Saturday 4/3? As I mentioned in the original post, there was a pretty large group of Jeeps Crossing this mudhole about the same time as we did. They were kind enough to give a few tips and shoot some videos of the crossing as well. Actually the first time I had seen that many gladiators in one place apart from a dealer's lot!

I'm sorry but being a sports photographer and videographer this is not Tiktok. Stop filming in portrait. Nobody wants to watch videos in portrait mode. Everyone's flat screen TV is in landscape.

Thanks for posting this. Almost attended as well but we’re heading to Moab. Look like you did really well ....

Remember this ....slow and steady going up and down will win every time. With steady throttle going up, she will claw her way right up. Going down, steady brake, especially on the steps and you may drag a bit or two, but you won’t leave pieces by hard hits. Let her drop down easy.

Going down, I usually brake her until her tires slide down the step. I very rarely “roll” down the steep steps.

Looks like you had a great time ????
