Who cares about the power grid....im charging off solar panels. That too is coming for everyone....fully expect new construction/buildings to be responsible for producing their own electricity. Power from the utility company will become second tear for most homes.

The grid will get upgraded anyways....they have legal obligations to provide steady power. Utilities may try to fight it but electricity is too important for the government to let it collapse.
Consider this: you have all these homes generating electricity such that they create more than they use. So these customers don't pay the electric company any money. Sooner or later, you get enough people not paying anything that the electric company can't stay in business. What then? The .gov will bail/buy them out? You just THINK your electricity is expensive now. Ultimately, it will cost more than gasoline. No one is considering the cost of making EV's predominant. I am not denying that it's coming, I am just saying it will be Painful.

I considered adding solar panels that would feed back into the system & give me credits towards electricity I use. It would take almost 30 years for it to pay back, so no thanks.
And the stand-alone solar system per-KWh cost is insane.

Nah...it would be like the insurance industry when they bailed from florida...gov stepped in and had to provide insirance at a rate people could aford. Electricity is considered a necesity. Gov wont screw around with that....even if they have to subsidise

Yes Exactly. Exactly like the 'Affordable Healthcare Act' lowered everyone's costs. (mine more than Doubled)
Thanks for making my point.

4XE Rubicon 4dr weighs over 800lbs more than the 4dr Rubicon 3.6. That means a Rubicon Gladiator 4XE would weigh in at 5900lbs.
Yeah, that's the million dollar question with the Gladiator 4xe: How will they handle GVWR?

If they jack GVWR up high enough to maintain current levels of payload and towing, then they will be at the same GVWR as the full size Ram 1500. I don't see that happening, but I suppose anything is possible.

On the other hand, if they don't jack GVWR up that high then the truck will lose so much payload and towing capacity that it'll become useless as a pickup truck.

I'll tell you guys what, IF Jeep announces officially that the Gladiator 4xe will show up for 2022 and IF it has a minimum of 6,000 lbs. of towing capacity, I'll order one this summer and give it a thorough review.

Ice engines are going bye bye...dont really know why people care. Electric engines have so much more power. Its genuinely frustrating the love affair people have with ICE. More complex, less reliable and less power.

California already has laws requiring new contruction produce its own power....they a bellweather state...the country follow their lead.

ICE engines are going to be relegated to industrial non consumer use.
Just curious as to why you bought a Gladiator and not a Tesla?

At this point it's happening whether you like it/agree with it or not....

If you can't read, it doesn't matter what the writing on the wall says.
In the 1960s, the Jetsons predicted that by the year 2000 we'd all be flying around. In the 1980s it was predicted that by the 2000s hovercraft would be the new mainstream transportation means.

You know what we got in 2000? Jaws on the floor at the sight of a backup camera in a vehicle. GASP.

Lol, you guys can continue to be dreamers. Or perhaps you're the type who takes the bait hook, line, and sinker when you hear something on the news or via the internet. But one thing is for sure, ICE vehicles are not going anywhere. They will continue to be the dominant and mainstream form of transportation for the next decade and likely the next few decades.

What a thread and all the poor 4XE wants to do is be driven. :)

I think having more options is better. Drive what you want and stop gate keeping others.

I'll drop this link here. I saw this program and it was pretty interesting but beware your politics and just see it for what it is. Solar is coming but maybe not as fast as you'd think? ?‍♂

I still don't understand what your point is. These cars are here to stay and will only continue to get better. Judging by your post you're just here to start a fight. If you don't like the 4XE scroll past the threads....

I mean this with all due sincerity. You produce CO2 on exhalation... are you going to stop breathing to save the planet?

Cars release CO (carbon monoxide and other pollutants that can relate to smog and poor air quality.
I agree that cars do - if they have gasoline engine. Diesels do not produce CO2.

My new favorite thread :lipssealed::headbang::swear::surprised::angry::clap::LOL::CWL:

Can't believe nobody gave the final answer (there are three):

#1 the only way we survive, some of us, is by getting off the planet. We stay on here and we are all toast. Blather on about your issues if you must, same as arguing about chair arrangements on the Titanic. We can be on Mars in 200 years, and should.

#2 we see this chimp playing pong with its head. See that chip headed ping pong champ chimp ?? How long before two chimps playing pong with their head, but now against each other? And how long after that before one loses and eats the other one? This is ver bad dea.

#3 drive your jeep with a smile. We got jeeps, jeep trucks!
