Hello.

I was wondering what some of the fellow Gladiator users in this community would recommend for washer fluid. A light on my dashboard appeared not too long ago indicating low washer fluid level.

Does it matter what type or brand I go with? Also, am I able to top off the washer fluid as soon as the low level light appears, or was I supposed to drain out the old factory fluid first before adding the new one?

Sorry if these are stupid questions.

I think those are good questions.

There are many fancy washer fluids on the market to include a Rain-X variety. I think it's a matter of personal preference. Here in Colorado, I go through a LOT of washer fluid so I buy the cheap stuff. In winter, I have to make sure it's the sub-zero variety. Otherwise, I don't care. I suppose the Rain-X stuff would help to repel water off the windshield. Otherwise, it's all the same to me.

There's no need to drain out what's already in the tank. Just top it off.

10w-30 is my preferred.

In all seriousness, any works.
Only time I pay attention is in winter. I make sure I use the washer fluid that won’t freeze.

During summer, I prefer any distilled water and a cap full of simple green.

I've been using Rain-X or wally world copy for years and the cheap stuff without a problem but I do make sure in cold weather I use non freezing stuff. So green in spring to fall blue in winter.
A way I've found to cut down on bugs at night is yellow fog lights.

I never use my washer fluid. I don't clean my windshields by using the wipers in any of my vehicles. The only time I use my wipers is during a rain.
I would rather just make sure my windshield is clean before I drive.

I prefer to make my own to avoid the harmful chemicals and by products that are prevalent in the products today.

Liquor Attorney. So not all bad...
Yes. Washer Fluid. Just by from local gas station. In California it is blue water. In Minnesota it is a solution of denatured alcohol and something else that tastes terrible that won't freeze in the winter.

Wait till you discover oil and diff fluids... ?

I've tried RainX washer fluid, it's not bad - the version for winter as you never know in Iowa. 60 today, 25 tonight, then into the 80s for a while, etc. You can't keep changing it all year.
I think it does a better job on bugs. Nothing worse than those huge bugs sliming up the glass in the evening, or a truck buzzing by and splashing muddy water on your glass - and it's just dry enough it won't run off.
You can't get by without it in this state. It's either huge bugs blasting your glass like some thick snot, or trucks splashing crud on your windshield. We go through quite a bit of it.
Otherwise with several vehicles, I try not to spend too much on it and use the best on the newer Jeeps (my JT and her WK2) and the lesser stuff in the other three vehicles.

Some of today's fancy designer washer fluids do not play well with other washer fluids. Reality is, it is best not to mix brands.

Some will laugh at what I am saying until they experience nozzle plugging due to mixing brands.

SO, let it run out and then replace with a different brand or add the same brand washer solution when fluid level is down. OR, siphon what is in there out and start using a brand of your liking..
This sounds like a reasonable concern I have not thought about. I have for years just purchased the least expensive winter rated fluid for all my vehicles.

Anyone know what the factory filled it with? Is there Mopar washer fluid? Whatever it is it worked well this winter and I like how it's clear.

Oh no! I need to agonize over what windshield washer fluid is best? I just spent months researching wheels, tires, seat covers, motor oils, bumpers, floor mats, sliders, and more. Now, thanks to this thread, I have to watch a dozen YouTube videos comparing windshield washing fluids!!!

They are arguing AGAIN over bloody danged spark plugs on one of the AMC fakebook pages.
We all know what the BEST washer fluid is - that's easy - it's whatever the person being asked (or responding) uses.

I like to keep my jeep windshields pre treated with rainx. This is mostly for bugs... as far as washer fluid, I like the orange stuff Costco sells that is either rainx or similar that say it helps with bugs... but I’ll other in a pinch.
