Not the person you’re asking, but my Rubicon was decently optioned (55K MSRP) and I was able to get it for 47K. 8.4 with Nav, steel bumpers, automatic transmission, headliners, LEDs, and a few other things I am forgetting. When I was purchasing there were numerous deals similar to this I was considering — chose mine because of color. Maybe the market is different where I’m at though.
Yes. I knew I wasn't the only one, and that's with an automatic too! I do have the headliners as well, and the spray in liner. You got a better deal than me, to get that with the auto though.

Markets vary, TIMING varies, incentives vary, etc. Sometimes dealers need to move what's on the lot or have troubles with corporate.

Not the person you’re asking..............
That's ok - good input.

Sort of back with the original poster and topic - I can see their thinking. Less to go wrong (how many have complained about locker sensor issues), differences in MPG, weights, towing and payload, etc. I can sure see why the Sport max tow owners are very happy with THEIR decisions.
Like I've said - if anyone says differently, it is an admission of perhaps a mistake or a choice they wish they hadn't made. Few humans will do that in public.
And I understand their frustration with Rubicon owners jumping in with their justifications as if to suggest THEIR reasoning and choice was BETTER and they don't get why anyone would not buy a Rubicon because they did and Rubicon was obviously the right choice. Too much of that goes on - and where's that leave the red-headed step-child, the Overland? It's the bastard of the JT with zero respect. Rubicon people bash it constantly, and Sport people have the thinking - why did you do that and give up all that payload and towing?

Why don't some people just accept the choices OTHER people have made without forcing their own as if it was the only correct choice?

(NOT referring to Geauxcrush who was merely pointing out financials and nothing more)

Well said. There you have it. It's great they give the choice. Whether auto/manual/Rubicon/sport (s)/max tow/overland... Choices are good! It's amazing that such a niche truck is offered in so many flavors.

Still $5,000 more than my 2020 Max Tow I bought October 1 2019.

I tried to wait for the diesel, but I just had to go test drive the gladiator. My local dealer had 4 JTs. 3 base Black Sport S, one white overland on the showroom floor. I was in love with them!

Sport S was $45,600, base 5” stereo, no running boards, just the power windows and door looks, hard top.

The overland was $62,000 with all options.

The trade value for my 2016 JKUHR was a $29,000 offer. It had 90,000 miles and bald 35” BFG AT KOs

I drove 80 miles to Columbia, TN when I saw they had 60 JT’s two with 6.4 hemis. They do their own work there. Those were both over $120,000

-They had one red Max Tow Sport S listed for $46,900 with almost everything you could put on one in 2019. This was the only Max Tow they had on the lot.

They had three red Rubicons, I picked the one that was closest in options to the MT.
It was listed at $57,900

I got the deal down to

Rubicon $54,350
Sport S Max Tow $42,000

$12,350 grand difference and the MT had the factory auxiliary switches. Both had halogen lights and black fenders and black hard top. Both had heated steering wheel and cloth heated seats. Both had mid grade 7” stereo with dealer installed speaker upgrade with sub.

At that time the Max Tow was a better purchase and they gave me $30,000 for my JKUHR

I've had two forum members stop by for various reasons (one bought tires and wheels, another tried to help on a WJ ABS diagnosis) and both had Sport JTs Can't recall if they were max tow or not - but both were VERY nice trucks and there was something about the Sport that was attractive in its own right.
I love my Overland, but there are times here and there I think maybe I should have done this or that, I started looking at Sport S max tow October 2019 when I first looked - my wife insisted on all body color stuff (not possible in Sport back then) and some other stuff - and the dealer said it would be more cost effective to go up to Overland. She loved the Overland features, all body color stuff.

We're actually lucky enough city dwellers like Jeeps for just daily drivers - if not for the Sahara buyers, those who buy just because, Jeep may not have a truck. (or even a Wrangler for that matter)

Shadows Papa, I like the Overland. I almost bought the white one at my favorite dealer but the wouldn’t budge on any prices. I wanted body colored fenders and top.

Have found the Rubicon to fit our retired style of life.
The tow advantage on our Jeep has come in handy a few times.

We have elected to keep the tire size stock & too the under carriage.
Should our driving style take a turn then I can see a change. With that change there may be some advantages & perhaps a not so desired change in the driving behavior of our Rubicon.

However for now, we cannot say enough about this truck & we can do it w/o degrading other trim selections.

Later today we are picking up our winch. We have found our solo travels into the Ocala National Forest (2-3 times a mth) . It will be our 911 insurance as there is very limited cell coverage.

Most of the tow package is standard on the Rubicon. This is the major reason we selected this trim.

2000 TJ 2021 Hydro Blue JTSS MAX TOW
when i was waiting on my MT to be built i was looking at other dealers so i could actually see what the hydro blue looked like in person (which i love this color) one of the local dealers had a hydro MT for dealer stock. looking at it it had the 5" screen, why would they order it with the smallest screen when one of the features for max tow is trailer zoom but trailer zoom is only available on the 7" or 8.4". i'm glad i was able to order because some of these people ordering dealer stock really suck at their jobs.

Yeah the camera ain't that great with the 5"; you can zoom in but I did not like it much. I have an old camera and installed it to get a different angle. I use an aftermarket rear view mirror/ dash cam as a second monitor. I can now hook/unhook the trailer by myself with ease.
I like that color, too. And the orange.

Pretty sure this thread is about the Sport max tow. Rubicon doesn't come with max tow.
(and they are talking about it stock Sport Max Tow)

It's funny how everybody these days worries about what it looks like. It's not about what it looks like, it's about can it go where you want it to go! I am not sure anybody has seen the first Jeep. It could go places nobody knew a vehicle could go. It's ability not beauty. I have to laugh when I read someone say a sport looks awful or my Rubicon looks better and looks more capable. Key words are that it looks more capable but is it? A good wheeler can get a shit can over that rock but a poor driver couldn't get a built CJ7 over an ant hill.

lots of pp boasting in here

the home made max tow hood decals are a little... cringe... but hey whatever floats your boat. If it fits your needs then cool. Seems like a weird inferiority complex would lead to posting "I'm just smitten with my stock max tow, who else hasn't done anything but use their truck as a truck?" on a Jeep forum.

If I need to tow I use my Navi with air conditioned seats, a 9500lb tow rating, a load leveling suspension, and all the other creature comforts. The Gladiator is a wrangler with a truck bed imo but if your Max Tow fits your needs then bad ass. Not sure why you hate the Rubis and Mojaves, or why you think a prius nerd in a cubicle came up with their concepts. Most of us have met the engineers over the years and they've taken all of our feedback and gave us the Jeeps we asked for.

Again, super happy for you that your Max Tow fits your needs, but maybe work on the inferiority complex a bit. At least you didn't buy a Tacoma.
