Morning everyone,

So almost exactly 1 year ago I got a fully loaded Overland, and loved it. But with the crazy used car market, figured I’d see what it was worth. I bought the car OTD for $48k, and a year later with 25k miles, was offered $47k. I couldn’t sign the papers fast enough. It was hard finding a dealer that was willing to deal given the supposed lack of inventory, but was able to get $7k off a brand new, just landed Mojave.

Funny side note, I asked if I could move my tonneau cover and they said it would take $500 off my trade in value. I bought it new off Amazon for $230, so no thanks!

Hmmm... I got a 2021 Mojave for a hell of a deal (48k). I wouldn't mind trading in for a new color or something...

As a side note, I have the new tires from my Overland, and new tires off my Mojave available. I’m near DC and willing to sell them cheap to a forum member.

I did the same thing. I leased my Overland last year, but swapped it for a Rubicon lease. I take delivery in three weeks. The dealership has such low used stock that they gave me $3,000 in equity and EP on the Rubicon.

This is awesome. I nearly did the same thing but after I sold the Sport S, I decided I wasn't quite so keen to part with the money again for another truck. Gonna sit on it for a few months and decide what I want to do.

If somebody had had a lower-trim Rubicon/Mojave on their lot, I'd have gone for the straight trade to try and get a "free" upgrade like you did, but everything local was way too decked out for my tastes/wallet.

I did get a quote for $44k from Kent at Peterson for a new factory 2021 Rubicon, so I could have gone that route, though I'd have had to have paid all of the sales tax on the new vehicle since it wouldn't have been a trade (Peterson said they weren't going to be able to match the crazy trade-in prices).

Gupton is the same way, and the reason I havent sold and ordered, as any profit I gain will just go back to taxes. The prices are great with them, but I was hoping to find a deal and get decent trade.

Absolutely -- if you can find somebody willing to trade and is paying these crazy used-car prices AND will negotiate on a new truck, it's pretty much a steal.

I started with the KBB cash offer price and went from they. KBB offered 46,300 for my Overland, and then when my phone rang off the hook I just started a bidding war basically.

Did you go to dealer or was it thru a carvana type of place. I would love to trade in like you did.

I keep getting emails from the dealer saying my Overland is worth about $44k as a trade-in. I've had it for just over two years and put 22k miles on it. I've considered a new one, but then think about all the work done to it, and what I would have to do all over again.

Hi, did you actually put your truck for sale on KBB and then that’s how you started bidding war? Or did other sellers like carVana contact you? Thinking of doing the same with my 2020 Overland. Thanks!
