Chip shortage is finally affecting Gladiator production

Huh.....ummm I'll take a new Gladiator. Without cruise control or power windows no driver assist please, or anything else that requires a chip. Matter of fact just give me the shell some Dana 60s all the mechanical parts. Including but not limited to a 426 hemi and a nice 4 bbl carb. Problem solved.

All mechanical, pack the parts in a crate and ship it out to us via UPS. I'd be game for putting together my own gladiator.

As long as you didn't order Gecko I wouldn't worry about it. You may end up with a 2022. Or better yet just change your order if there are any 2022 changes.

Why would ordering Gecko matter? i'll change my damn color right now if it saves me 8 weeks.

Well I talked to my Sales guy again and my July 1st Order won't be affected by the shutdown, but delivery may be delayed due to a driver shortage. I'm willing to drive to Toledo and just leave my current car wherever the jeep is parked lol.

I am in the same boat, done but waiting for a truck.

I ordered 7/16. JTR w manual transmission and several options. I was feeling pretty good about getting it for my trip to Colorado the second week of September. Not so much now! I also have a pile of parts for when it gets her and was going to order a lift and tires today. Maybe I need to slow my roll a little bit…. Of course if I do that I’m sure there will be a tire shortage when my Jeep arrives!

I sent this:

"Hey Daniel,

I hate to bug you and I’m sure you’re getting a lot of emails as of yesterday with the chatter about the JT production halt. (https://www.detroitnews.com/story/b...ge-hits-jeep-gladiator-production/5422071001/)

Wondering if we are still on track for my build of 8-10 weeks?"

He replied:

"It is certainly true that the consumer knows more than the dealer because we honestly haven't even gotten news like that from the manufacturer so I guess we will see what happens but I'm hoping no news on my end is good news and we just keep our fingers crossed!"

Interestingly enough, the idea of pulling a build together sourcing parts/boards from totalled, used, and new vendors has crossed my mind. With covid house arrest, what else is there to do?

Are people still under house arrest? We've been pretty much back to normal since before summer.

I think I'd rather a direct from Jeep kit with a big (like 2ftx4ft) pictorial instruction book made by Lego.

I emailed my dealer and he told me that IU have a build date scheduled and Jeep has all the parts to build the Jeep. Therefore it shouldn't affect my order. I also confirmed with Jeep Chat that they had all my parts and my Jeep has a build date.

So I hope that it doesn't affect me. I already have wheels being delivered tomorrow...

would be nice but quite a few people here ordered in June and got the dreaded email. i'm guessing they have a VIN if I got 1 in a couple days after ordering last week.
