Good Morning Kate!

I just sent you a private message. I called in yesterday but reached a dead end and it did not appear as if a case was started. Appreciate you taking your time to read this and reach out.
I see it now and will follow up with you there!

So to update you all, a case was opened and closed the day I called Jeep. Was told to speak to car wash manager or to go back and speak with service personnel again. The lady I spoke also suggested I have the dealership call someone for a second opinion (provided by the dealership that is voiding my warranty) and offered to have my truck towed to another dealership. Those are my only options.

I’m driving a 2020 Sport S with 12,400 ish miles on it. I haven’t had any issues with it and the truck has been turning on and off fine. Yesterday, I drove around as I usually do. The vehicle was turned off for 10 minutes and then it tried to crank on but didn’t. I was able to jump it but then the “Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon” warning was displayed. Before it turned off, It felt as if the power steering wasn’t working. The vehicle shut off shortly after that. It was towed to the nearest dealership for a diagnostic.

I got a call from dealer today telling me the warranty was voided and that I would need to pay the $150 diagnostic fee and any potential repairs needed to be paid for out of pocket. He cited that it was obvious the vehicle had been driven through water and that there was moisture under the hood, therefore voiding the warranty. I do not go mudding nor do I do serious off-roading. I’ve driven on service roads with little to no obstacles. I live in Florida and there are puddles but I’ve never driven in anything that was significant enough to make me worry about potential damage. Furthermore, The truck had been operating fine until this random issue yesterday.

Has anyone had similar issues? Am i just having bad luck with dealership service center? Any input is appreciated!

Man that's not ok,ok my previous jeep i went through mud higher past the line of the door sill, yall see on my profile pic on how muddy it was
but after that i went through a whole lot of water to try and clear out the mud,the water crossing was maybe 2 feet high maybe but I was bombing through it and yet nothing happened to me even though my whole engine bay was drenched, maybe my S&b hood vents helped in some way to dry everything thing out as I was on the highway?

Yea man I don’t think it’s okay either. BecauseI’ve accumulated dirt under hood, they’re making the assumption that I’ve been submerged/stuck in or driving reckless in water which is not the case. I still don’t really see the “moisture” on the alternator the service man is talking about. I see maybe 2 spots that look different but it looks like oil to me. I can’t believe that me driving through a car wash is also an issue too. I love my truck and i love Jeep. I’m slowly putting my family on to them. This whole thing is really making me change my mind. Am i supposed to leave it parked in driveway because I live in Florida and there is water and dirt everywhere? That’s crazy

I’m looking to buy a new midsize next year. I joined here a few weeks ago to start researching. I am open to all the midsize trucks. The most important thing I’m looking for is a solid and powerful powertrain. Looks and options are down the list, but seeing more and more of these shitty dealership threads and powertrain problem threads is making me lose interest in jeep.

This case alone is crazy. Probably looking at the redesigned 23 ranger, 23 canyon/Colorado, or 23 tacoma (if they get rid of the current drivetrain). JT is looking like a no go unless something drastic happens.

OP, I hope someone at Jeep can find their head with both hands and take care of you, good luck.

Like I said, i love my truck. But I would seriously think about your decision. If you’re buying a Jeep to do Jeep things, you’re going to get warranty voided and no help. I haven’t done anything crazy with my truck and they’re still voiding my warranty. Just something to think about. I will say that no one has been rude to me. But no one’s been helpful either. Jeep Cares says they can’t do anything besides what the rep advised me to do the other day. So I don’t have very many options. It’s a shame.

Thank you! I was hoping someone would help me but I guess by Jeep standards, if it’s dirty, it’s indicative of water damage. So I guess be mindful of that. Appreciate you guys and gals taking the time to read the thread

This, like so many threads lately, needs one of these:

Jeep Gladiator “Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon” 1630091423489

Honestly, take a breath and work the problem. Yes that specific service department is being unreasonable. But you've got to work towards the solutions to get somewhere. Jeep even suggested this themselves. Yet now we're already saying "Jeep is bad, go buy from someone else instead"....? (and still have their problems to deal with btw).

Not to mention, it sounds like they've threatened, but has your warranty actually been voided? So far it sounds like it hasn't. Which just means you need to take Jeep's advice and go elsewhere.

Sorry if I implied that Jeep is bad! Not what I’m saying. I guess a better way to word it would be that the current experience I’m having with this incident has not been a good one.

I’m going to try and get it towed somewhere else this weekend and see what happens. As far as the warranty being voided goes, the service rep I spoke with told me it had been voided.

Wow. Whole different ballgame on that one then. In that case, the next dealership won't be able to do anything for you since it's logged in the system as restricted. You could try calling Jeep directly, asking if that is in fact the case, and try to dispute it directly with them. But sadly your best course to contest a wrongly-voided warranty usually involves lawyers. Having said that I suggest you get in contact with one and discuss options.

Read through this whole thread, please keep us posted. I'd take it to another dealer too, but it also sucks the time that is wasted in this process.

Curious what the second dealer says.

I’m going to try and get it to another dealership and see what they say. I didn’t want to go the lawyer route but as I’m running out of options that may be something to consider as well. Thank you for the advice

I’m going to take it to another dealership this weekend and see. But yes, the time it’s taking to figure this out is surprising to me. I can’t keep driving work car around for much longer so I’m going to have to figure a solution out soon. We’ll see what happens!

I can’t believe the dealership can even void your warranty, and so easily! That’s crazy. I would be absolutely livid.
