Well I have the remote start via the fob. My Sirius XM just expired. Not paying that much a month for a radio I can listen to for free.
The Sirius that manages the vehicle as far as remote unlock/lock, remote start, etc. is nothing to do with the monthly radio fee. It's the same company - but it's a different subscription.

If you let the radio subscription expire all you lose is the listening - as long as you keep the other subscription active. If you let that one expire you can still listen to Sirius XM radio if you keep that subscription active.

But the FOB thing is a good point because I keep it in a HOLSTER clipped onto me any time I'm out with my vehicle. No way I can leave it in the cab or in the bed of the truck. Can't lose it unless I get lost (which is actually entirely possible)
No need to reach into a pocket, no chance of laying it on the dash or in the console or a cup holder.
And as my wife found out, you can't possibly lock these things with the fob in the cabin.......... she couldn't figure out why pushing the door handle button on her Grand Cherokee wouldn't lock the doors. When she got home she explained her locks were acting up. I asked her where her fob was - Her response - "oooh, ok, it's in my jacket pocket and I took it off and laid it in the back seat..........."
THAT is why you were unable to lock the doors....

Xm radio is different subscription than Sirius Guardian. You can subscribe to Guardian for 6 months/$60.

Do you have proximity locks?

Yes - I added the passive entry/proximity.
I got the fob holster before I got that added but still love having that holster. I can quickly push a button and unlock the truck if my wife is first out to the truck to load stuff in the back.

Which would be the same as keeping the key in ones pocket and pressing the unlock button.

If that's what ya want. That works, too.
I didn't like having to reach into a pocket and figure the orientation and push the correct button. Faster to reach down, no pocket to reach into, no wondering which way it's facing.
Some don't mind it in the pocket mingling with other stuff, feeling for the right button. That's cool.
I really prefer the holster as it's always exactly where I expect it and never figure which button - it's always the top right button.
It solves the key popping out if the button got pushed in your pocket, solves the panic button getting pressed in a pocket, and I can lock it in the holster and give my fob (locked into the holster) to a valet parking person and not wonder if they could get into anything else.
Everyone has their preference.
I just figured if people were concerned about the fob laying somewhere and getting locked into the truck - there's a simple solution. (although it can't get locked in the cabin itself)

In my job I'd snag the holster to often for it to work for me.

I've had it on while doing yard work, even working on the truck or in my shop - so far, so good........
I had actually wondered about it getting caught or snagged. I've had it over a year with no issues, loading and unloading stuff, even unloading and loading the retaining wall blocks.
(I clip it on a front belt loop)

I can see it being in the way for some folks - makes total sense. It isn't a solution for everyone for sure.

Interesting. I don't recall even subscribing to a lock/unlock thingymadoohickeywhatchamacallit. Why would I have to pay for anything that locks/unlocks/starts my Jeep remotely. WTF ? If I did pay for it. When/where do I find out when it expires?

If the Remote Feature is included, it comes with a one year trial subscription. It is managed through your account on the Mopar website. It is the SiriusXM Guardian subscription. The full remote access and security package is $249 per year.

So really if a car thief breaks into one of your cars he has access for both vehicles keys. Interesting. Where do you live? ?
The cars are in an alarmed, locked garage with a surveillance camera, when they aren't being driven.

If someone stole her car, while she was out, and found the other key. Then looked through the glove box for our address, then went and got a friend, then drove to our house and broke into the garage and stole my other car. They deserve it.

Its interesting. There are benefits of being able to lock the key in the car.

My Subaru allowed this. If I was out with my dog, I would leave the car running with him inside and the AC on. then lock the car.

Ask for the 6/60 package. It's a 60% savings. 6 months for $60. That's what I got after 2 additional months free when I called to cancel.

You ever seen a dog be triggered by something, paw at things and roll the window down? Yeah, it's happened - dog hit the window switch and actually accidentally opened a window and hopped out. Be careful with that. I'd had friends tell of their dogs turning AC on, AC off, shutting engine down, roll windows down or up, unlock doors, whatever. Some breeds are happy to sit or lay, some - not so much.

You get an email. And you don't subscribe and it's not a line item that you are charged for and can refuse. It's "included".
Shocked your dealer didn't explain all of that. I didn't care for the dealership I bought from - but the sales guy knew his Jeeps, every little detail, and explained in detail how that stuff operated and what we got (although he DID miss the passive entry - we also should have caught that. Oh, well - I added it later, myself, cheaper)
