Did you buy a new Gladiator and it makes "pew pew pew" noises at startup and other random times?

Mine came with one of the SWAT devices installed in it. Look through your paperwork from the dealer. I don't remember them telling me about it, but mine came with a brochure that explained how to setup an account to make use of the three year paid subscription. It lets you track where the truck is, and even has geo-fencing capabilities to notify you if it leaves the boundaries you setup. Mine doesn't make any noise, and will possibly stop working next February when 3G support gets removed from the cellular network.

Checked my entire doc package. Nothing.

I am not discrediting the system. I am sure it is cool for those who want it.

Imagine sliding around in sand ( this is literally true ) and the random God knows what timer in that thing goes off and PEW PEW PEW! I thought I killed my truck.

Did you watch the video? It’s straight up pew pew pew as he described. And he stated that he found what it was.

*edit* sorry for the gross keyboard it's normally dark rest assured it has been cleaned.*/edit*

My dealer installed one as well, it is a $75.00 tracker that can be purchased on amazon but can be tied to any number of "lo-jack" type services.

My dealer advertises their "Platinum gem encrusted everything is protected plan." which I declined. When I found the device I called the dealership asking if they wanted the tracker back and they quickly denied ever installing it since I did not buy the plan. I went online and found a few reviews of my dealer saying they were receiving suspicious coincidental calls around the mileage of services required to pull people in. After I read the reviews I went back to dealer and walked in to their vehicle prep area and talked to one of the guys washing the cars and literally just asked him about it. He said they have cases of the devices and install them in every single vehicle they make ready.

Mine was more then a 12v tap it was pulling off of atleast 7 pins from the OBD II and installed in the knee panel just as you said yours was.

To me this is pretty shady, that dealers are installing these, and if it bothers you take a look at your OBD II port for piggyback plugs you just might have one too.

this is the one that was in my JTR

Sometimes 3 pews? 4? Today my record was 12 when I was offroading. Has driven me NUTS for a week since taking delivery. I didn't take it to the dealer yet because I figured it was telling me something and I'd just read the owners manual on the throne that night and figure it out. Nothing in the information display, not the car's chime, nothing nothing.

Finally some creative search terms ( never found anything here, wasn't using the right words - when you search for "noise, chirp on startup" you just wind up in mechanical threads about the accessory belt ) led me here:

Electronic alarm sound after starting? Pew...pew...pew... | Honda CR-V Owners Club Forums (crvownersclub.com)

YouTube:

Yep, that's it! Got my ass under the dash and found the wiretap on the OBD II port. That goes to an inline fuse and the "SWAT" GPS tracker device is installed somewhere behind the left driver knee panel. I bought the car. I declined all dealer addons. They obviously didn't deactivate the damn thing. It appears to just be +12VDC and ground so has no way to interfere with the truck - just makes noises.

Thought a new thread ( there could be many others, I just couldn't find them ) about this may help others. The dealer is supposed to deactivate these things if you don't buy them. The wiring looks like the dealer tech cared, but dude, OBD II splicing? Come on.

I do understand why dealers do this - track their inventory, act on theft, sell customers shit - but I didn't pay for this, I didn't finance this from them, they need to remember to turn this shit off.

Always end with a positive:

Took the Mojave out to the mud caves in Anza Borrego - it was AWESOME ( the caves too ). The truck was so much fun just hauled ass everywhere. Found some soft sand, whipped the rear around in Offroad+, total blast.
There's multiple other threads on this with pictures of the devices, how they connect and speculation on why they are installed (in some cases, we know why, in others - we are simply speculating)

This was in mine. My JT was a special order - and they knew when I was coming to get it, and that I was paying cash on that day. The sales guy showed me a picture of the Jeep unloaded from the transport truck at about 7am, I picked it up at about 4 pm that same day. A few weeks later something fell onto my left foot - the OBD piggyback fell out of the bracket onto my foot. This is what I removed -

Usually when you hear a "pew pew pew", that means somebody is shooting at you.
I suggest you duck!
This is what I think of............... (or someone farting)

I can't imagine why any such device would actually make any sound.

I searched. When you can't hit the search algorithm with the correct words....you don't get hits. I got accessory belt hits. Now that I know what it is, I can search and find 10 threads. Hopefully my pew pew brings more hits for the next guy.

For future searchers and any lurkers - type in "device under dash" in the search area......
Haha....I would if I knew it was a device under dash!! I thought it was a 'Jeep thing' and I needed to reread my owners manual. ;)

Definitely my first experience with anything like this but I have not purchased a new car since my wife's MDX in 2014. Bought that before it even had time for PDI so maybe they had her pew pew ready just no time. Haha.

Still can't figure out why any such device would be other than totally quiet. What's the noise for? Is it also a flame thrower? Maybe there's a small bug stuck in it trying to get out and gets shocked when you start the truck?

All these do is - if you have seat belts fastened when you start it, you'll hear a single "ding" and if you don't have seat belts buckled and start it, you get 3 dings.
That's all mine has ever done - even with that Martian transporter device tucked up under the device.
I thought maybe it was some modern force field generator - and found a SIM card in it and realized, no, it's human-made.
