Custom DIY Bed Rack

So I just purchased some 2"x2" Steel Tubing along with some angle iron to fab a bed rack together. I am looking to construct a Full Rack to slight go above the Hard/Soft Top so that I can carry my paddle boards. As or right now I have no intentions on purchasing a RTT. I do plan to attach gear to the outside of the rack and maybe a water storage tank. Here is what I have put together so far and looking for feedback in case I'm over looking something or if someone has a better recommendation on this. After I finish mine I will be building a half rack for a buddy of mine.

can you weld Alum? might be better for salty air and lighter.

Your steel rack will rust even with paint in a coastal environment.

I would also give the corners, horns that stick up like 3" so they can retain your boards laterally.

No unfortunately I already bought the steel and I doubt I will have any issues out of it. I don’t think the rust issue will be any different from my buyers or anything else. I am going to raptor line it when it’s built.

Good luck with it. Do you weld by yourself? What equipment do you use? As far as I know, alum is harder to weld technically, so probably your choice is a better decision. My friend got a Reboot welder(this) and it doesn't help in similar issues. Waiting for your result

Looks like a solid plan. I had to make my uprights perfectly horizontal to maintain use of my trifold tonneau cover but if I ever ditch it, I would go your 85/95 degree route.
