how long does it take to charge 75% of the battery?
Imagine everyone trying to charge their cars at the same time. Its not like getting gas that takes 2-3 minutes tops. Youll need 50 chargers at a station. Where does all this electricity come from?

Fix the charging issues. Time to charge, amount of infrastructure, make the batteries better.....
While I'm at it.....Give me a solar panel for my hood that charges my jeep in the back country. Put electric motors on my overland trailer so it reduces the amount of drain on my battery....Let it drive itself.
I agree. It's the future. Motors on all corners and all that off roading goodness. Still want to see someone lift a Rivan and do the standard off roader mods.

I get it. Some people have to be early adopters to test the tech and make it fiscally viable.

But I watched @Summitdan have his issues. I'd love an EV mode to get to work my commute is stupid short and prevents a diesel. I'd never get it to it's duty cycle. But cold days? Right now it would not be functional.

solar panels for your hood
ill cover this one, you guys get the rest.

When electric is perfected I am definitely looking forward to more torque and speed instantly! Batteries are what will determine the future of electric. Until then we know where to find the balance of weight, power and torque.

At present, distributed charging at residences is the best option, and is easy and cheap to implement. To answer your question, it depends on battery size. A plug-in hybrid with a medium pure electric range, but then extended range via ICE, will average around 2 hours to fully charge with 40amp 240v. Pure electrics with 200-350 miles of range easily charge at the same voltage and amps in 8-10 hours at home while you sleep. Rapid chargers give 75-80 percent on long range pure electrics in 30 minutes or so.

Every where is switching to being “green”
Not only is the government pressuring us, but the big 3 (Ford, Chevy and dodge) are on us about how we are cutting our carbon foot print in making steel for them
Ford even said they would stop buying steel from us if we didn’t have a plan to go green. It will be a sad day when when finally shut down our blast furnaces and cokeovens

See the only way it works is with gasoline. Sure seems alot simpler to just get our energy independence back and go on with life. This green stuff is just going to help China. Thats about the most im willing to say currently.

Just fix charging times or make the range ungodly far before needing a charge. As an engineer that works in energy and studied petroleum engineering, I still don’t give a rats ass where the energy is coming from as long as it isn’t open quarry coal mining sources.

All energy sources destroy something. There’s nothing magical about any of them. Which one has the most effectiveness to destruction ratio is the only thing that matters. How you figure that out, I have no damn idea so I’m not wasting breath or time on it.

Jeep has to do what they have to do to stay modern and marketable. If that means full electric then so be it. They’ll figure out a way to get better charging times and range, I’m sure of it. Don’t sleep on those genius guys and gals designing these products.

But can they charge my EV in a timely manner?
Full charge via solar panel on the hood... ~ 1 month to full charge. :) I'm in no way anti-solar/electrification, just physics of a solar panel. A little less time with a gas generator. I would like to see more progress on fuel cells.

They'll have to pry the shifter from my cold dead hand..

And the clutch from my cold dead foot
They may just skip the work, remove your Jeep’s top, and roll it so your corpse falls out on its own.

Sure. Why not? Electric cars aren't practical for a lot of applications. Do you have solar on your house?
EVs are young. Few more years and most of the drawbacks will disappear.

we ALLEGEDLY partnered with Jeep on destination solar charger’s project. Their EVs are 100% ALLEGEDLY incredible. They ALLEGEDLY can climb 50* inclines and drive on ALLEGEDLY 30* slopes And ALLEGEDLY ford very deep water. ALLEGEDLY they also outrun the 392. ALLEGEDLY they also have better ground clearance than any Jeep made previously.
