I have been impressed by how quiet the 3.6 is at idle. Not anymore....

1900hrs last night I parked in my basement, unpacked what little shopping I had, locked the JTR and left. 0530hrs this morning I went down to the jeep to go to work and to my surprise the headlights were on...so was the engine. I had left the thing on idle for the best part of 10 hrs!

So Jeep....it's obviously your fault, in this day and age, that the engine wasn't rough or noisy enough for me to notice I'd been a complete Twunt and left it running (the basement does have extractor fans whirring).

joking aside, it didn't bing at me as I got out and without the key, I'm surprised it didn't shut itself down after a period of time.

Anyway, no harm done, car warm when I got in and I'll be sure to double check from now on!

Dangerous. CO. Typically is start/stop is enabled and you pull in to park. If it’s in the off stop/mode because you engaged the brake pedal and then shirt into park it should fire up again, and bless you have a MT. No CO sensors in the home? $30 for one where you park inside could save your life.

ESS was on but obviously not 'active' at the time. Agree ref CO but this is a huge, ventilated parking garage under the apartment block, CO couldn't have got to dangerous levels thankfully.

It’s happened to me to….twice. NEVER in my life have I gone to the store, mid day or at any time, parked in a busy parking lot and left it running. It was traumatic to come back to find it running. I thought I was loosing my mind. Maybe I am but now I’m not alone! Thanks OP, you’re braver than I am to report such a thing. Don’t tell anyone!!

Cheap fix, remove the suitcase muffler. Great sound, no drone. Helped me when driving, M/T. Couldn't hear the engine revs, now I can.

That’s my plan. I have my AWE exhaust on order. Not really why I bought the exhaust but I do appreciate the help you provided by giving me another item to add to my “pros” list so it makes my expensive purchase seem like an even better idea! :like:

What sequence of events causes this to occur? Are owners relying on the fob proximity limit for shutdown instead of pressing the main switch?

I can say I've never left it running but have actually forgotten that I shut it off and turned it back on to realize that it was already off and I just restarted it.

I don't the Jeep is too quiet for me, I think I just have the radio too loud.
