Overland vs Mojave

Was really leaning toward Mojave but lowest I can find one is around 53k with options I want. Dealer in KC area has their 21 Overlanders for around 41k after 9k discount. For someone that won’t be doing to much off roading would the overland be a better deal and then just add a few things to it? Or just go with Mojave? I prefer the looks of the Mojave but could probably make an Overland look pretty nice for difference.

If you’re going for looks I suggest the Overland. With the money you save, versus the Mojave, you can add lots of lights and an angry face grille.

Overland. It’s more comfortable on road. Easy enough to get it to look the way you want

I doubt the Overland is more comfortable on road. The Mojave has the best riding suspension ever put on a Jeep, even on road.

Outer looks, the main difference between the Overland and Mojave is the hood and cowl. The Mojave is designed for high speed desert running and has a tuned suspension with some very expensive Fox shocks.
If money is not an issue, get the Mojave. My Overland has a great ride, reminds me of the '73 Buick I drove when I was young.

If you are getting a Mojave cause of looks and you don't plan on towing much, or putting much larger tires on then Overland is fine. I was planning on an Overland until I really looked into towing a camper, and other trailers and realized that I am already stepping down from a V-8 Suburban that was awesome to a six cylinder, I know that the Mojave will not get the mileage the suburban did when towing, but is getting much better day to day already. You should test drive both, I didn't test drive the overland the same day I did a Mojave and Rubicon, but did a month earlier, Overland might be a softer ride then Mojave , but Mojave is amazing, and I'm still thrilled crossing rail road tracks and such.

Mojave is a purpose vehicle. You can't tune for speed on sand and specific purposes and have it be the best on the highway, too. If that were the case, the suspension would be the same on all of them.

The overland is a purpose vehicle as well - thus the extremely comfortable ride. I'd take my JT anywhere on any long trip. It's absolutely the best riding truck I've ever had, and rivals many other vehicles I've had.

I'm not so sure about the Mojave not being great on the highway, it might be built and poorly marketed as for high speed driving on the sand, but it is special purpose to a lot of buyers as a great all around vehicle straight from the factory, tows more then some but less then others , offroads better then some and less then the Rubicon, or in other words it works for what a lot of buyers want. Why don't they just put that suspension on every Gladiator, because that is why we are paying top dollar for it the suspension is probalby costing about $7000 above other models. My Mojave is fun to drive, it is not a sports car, but takes the corners flat and at better speed then I though, and the ride is pretty smooth and controlled and still able to take the big bumps.
My Mojave will spend more time on East coast beaches surfishing and slowly driving on the sand then most Gladiators, I'm looking forward to running across the cornfield rows at speed while goose hunting, and am extremly happy with my choice, but feel the Mojave might be a short time model as how many people buy jeeps to race on sand other then a few places west, Sure call it the Mojave , but just don't Market it by telling everyone it is for high speed sand use, and only show pictures of it doing donuts in the sand.....As my earlier post said, get the Overland, put slightly larger all terrian tires on it, , don't tow too much and save the bucks

The Mojave rides worse, I know from experience, I own a Mojave, only stands to reason it would too because the Mojave has stiffer suspension components and higher lift than that of the overland as well as the more agressive ATs, ( no all terrain will ride better than an all season highway tire), that’s a fact, all of those factors affect ride quality negatively.

Granted, if you want the wheels to stay on the ground on really rough roads you want a higher spring rate as stiffer springs keep the wheels on the ground on rough roads.
