Can some one tell me what the hell has happened to the American male?..Do you really need electric windows, heated seats, massage mode ...? A Jeep should have a manual transmission..Nuff said! TAKE YOUR ATM to the mall lot

Yes, I need heated seats, electric windows, proximity sensors, heated glass, etc. But I also like to drive a manual haha. My wife, who's decidedly not American male, also drives a manual jeep. I don't think jeeps "have to have a manual transmission". Mine just has to. Everyone else can drive what they want. Mine will be manual.

Pappy I like that winch plate/brush guard, what make is that?

PS I like my manual JT and JLU. I’ve rented auto JLUs and I’m not in love with those myself. To each their own.

Don't get me started on the bravery and pain that past men and women put up with riding on buck boards and wooden seats to settle this country..let alone the brave soldiers who sat on barely padded metal frame seats in military Jeeps...Modern trucks seem to be becoming luxury vehicles with a short bed attached...not a good look.

I'm with you Nacho. 10 year ago in college, I drove a $1500 BMW that didn't even have heat (or air bags)! But it still had superb 3 series ergos, perfect (to me) seating position and pedal placement. I'm definitely a little spoiled by the ergos of my past BMWs and Japanese sports cars. Things I sacrifice to drive a manual gladiator. We're lucky Jeep still offers it imo. I just need some old man Recaros for my back.

That is a "Rock Hard"winch plate .It attaches directly to the factory bumer and is bolted to the frame.
Thanks, I use Rock Hard products on my TJs, good company.

I have 2 daughters, their first vehicles WILL be manuals. Not that it seems like it will matter long term the way things are going, but if S!?!t hits the fan, the only vehicles still drivable will be the manuals. Just my silly thoughts.

We are lucky though that Jeep offers the M/T in all trim levels. The Tacoma IS the only other one. Even in cars it is getting harding and harder, but that is just here in the U.S. I just watched a video of a Ford Transist ambulace somewhere else, dude was a master on the M/T diesel! Imagine that here, a manual diesel full size van!

Yes, I was horrified to see that all the military Humvees are AT...Everyone should learn on a manual .As you said the Europeans all still drive manuals.I watched a great video of the Brits training new recruits on the Land Rover Defender! On a side note the manual is nicknamed the millennial anti-theft device!?

The throws are medium-long and the clutch engage point is sub-optimal, but the pedal spacing is fantastic (heel toes very easily) and the shift action feels very directed and solid. Guy above me said long vague rubbery throws... well I agree with long, but not vague or rubbery.
Never thought I would see that BOLDED phrase in a Jeep Gladiator forum. :)

To each his own with manuals vs. autos. Loved manuals growing up. Manuals are great for small sportscars although I prefer flappy paddle dual clutch units now. I grew up with manuals. But for some reason .... on any full size or midsize truck/jeep, or commuter vehicle ..... an auto was a must for myself.

My Glad has an auto. Love it. So smooth in its operation. My left knee appreciates it also.

Not sure why you would consider heel toe a technique not common to use on a Gladiator. Neutral braking is lazy, and rev matching while downshifting under braking is just good for the transmission. synchros are handy, but you shouldn't be asking them to do that much work.

Military began phasing all vehicles to automatics in the 80’s. Humvees only came in auto & replaced the manual Jeeps.

Before Worlld War ii, the same thing could be said about the brave soldiers in World war I. But is it an insult to them that we don't ride horses and that our houses have heat, AC, and indoor plumbing? should we fight wars with swords instead of rifles?

Yep was going to say the same thing. I don't think humvees were ever manual.

I like driving my 6 speed, but it's not an insult to history for you or anyone else likes driving the 8AT.
