I just sunk in a water/mud hole. Water poured in when door opened to set the winch. Got and everything is fine except the interior mess.

should I get trans/case/axles/oil changed asap? 6,000 miles on it. Oil changed once already. Thanks for all opinions.

Do you have a picture still submerged? By the sound of it you haven't damaged anything. No codes or lights popping up?

The reason I ask for a picture is to see if the exhaust went under, but if you drove away I think you're in the clear. I've water logged a Wrangler once through the intake, and I've been to about an inch under the door in my Gladiator. Neither needed any special maintenance afterward.

Didn’t have time for pics 😂 I could hear the exhaust bubbling. I suspect it was rally close. But everything drove fine on the way out.

You are probably ok But on a brand new truck i wouldn't take the chance. Without seeing it, it would be hard to say either way. The axles have vent tubes that if they went under could suck water in and i would rather find out now before it causes problems down the road.. Thats just my opinion though…

You should be fine,I sunk my jeep a little bit past the bottom door line and drove out jusr fine

But the only thing I'd be "worried" about is the front axle tubes were the axle shafts are at cause the only thing blocking debris is a loose little cover were the axle c is at
All I did is that i sprayed water in there to rinse it out but that wasnt my biggest of worries since I was cleaning the undercarriage to make it look new and that's it
As far as mud getting into the diff oil that's what the axle seals are for so again you should be fine since it's a new truck

I believe they have the breathers up a inch or two above the top of the tires.

The special vents are supposed to block water, allow air.
These are membrane breathers, not your grandfather's open vent with a nylon cap.

Just how deep was the water when it poured in? A inch - few or 6 plus inches? That's the real question. My XJ got dunked up to door handles with water up to the radio. It's not sealed up like a Wrangler or Gladiator is. A good cleaning should make it all good, it wouldn't hurt to check axle oil. Some came under filled anyway.

He should have gotten out and measured ground to top of the water - it's good for what, 30"?
And if it was 30.15", he's done LOL

I do believe even the book says to check............... since water usually settles, if there are drain plugs, might not be hard to check.

Lol yea I wouldn’t measure either but as an electrical contractor I can eye 30 inches pretty damn close haha. I personally would just drain and fill the diffs for piece of mind.

Rule of thumb has been when in deep water. Change the diff fluids. Cheap insurance. I've had water in my front diff before on the PW. Also on the PW, the idle pulleys. They don't like to go swimming.

Depending on miles, it's not a bad thing anyway. Cheap. They don't hold too many $$ of fluid.

When we take our gladiators swimming should we also see how water could get into the transmission?

Our owners manual has this to say:
Chrysler’s Owners Manual (TRANSMISSION),
pg. 439 “…change the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes contaminated (with water, etc)…”

Of course mine had glycol and that’s a different story but if this tranny is supposed to be sealed, how could water etc contamination actually happen?

Id do an oil analysis on the transmission just to be sure.
