Hey everyone,

First post here. I've searched lots of forums on tis topic but I seem to be in a different situation than most. So I have a 2021 Mojave, mods are a rugged ridge Hd front bumper and a quatratec stealth winch. I've got around 1,500 miles on the truck and I have never been able to get my MPG above 12. No way this seems normal. I just drive form home to work and back everyday. Any thoughts on why its so bad?

Gladiators are not know for hyper mileage. For short trip driving I average 14.5 mpg. For long trip freeway only I can get up to 21 mpg. My Gladiator is equipped with 3.6 gas engine, auto trans and 3:73 gear ratio. MPG has never been as low as 12 mpg.

Unfortunately, the evidence you've compiled is too anecdotal to take into a dealer and get it looked at. At around 3k miles my truck wasn't capable of averaging more than 15.8 ever, and that always seems crazy low for me for a truck rated at 19 combined. I don't accelerate that quickly hardly ever.

So i reset the mileage counter and tried to baby the fuck out of it for a medium-long drive I knew I had coming up. Probably 65+% highway. Way there I averaged 20, and the way home that bumped up to 21 so i figure i averaged 22 on the return trip. Made sense that it was higher on the way home since there was a net elevation change heading to my destination.

Since that trip, i've slowly sank right back down to 16.2.

While my foot is never deep into the pedal and I haven't floored the thing since I bought it, reality for me is 22 on the highway the way i drive just isn't realistic. Bricks with wheels aren't meant to go 80+mph and still get good mpg.

So while 12mpg sounds absolutely terrible, i've gotta ask, are you sure it's not related to how you're driving it? Because I swore up and down something was wrong with this truck, until i tested and found out it was just me. Not acceleration mind you, but my speed is a problem.

No its not my driving style. I'm definitely not lead footed. My wife has a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with a Hemi and if I'm driving that, I get around 17 mpg in that.

Is there a lot of uphill, start/stop, or wind? A lot of that can wreak havoc on your MPG.

I've put the Mopar steel front bumper, HD rock rails, and steel bumper on my Mojave, and still easily get over 17 MPG. I don't drive like an ass, but I certainly don't drive like a grandma either. 12 is concerningly low from where I'm sitting.

Im at 17.2 mpg with 3800 miles on my completely stock willys.

My commute is about 50/50 highway and city.

Whats your commute like?

I've found that when I was driving on the street instead of the highway (100% street) my fuel economy was at 14 and sometimes 13.5. Stopping at intersections for 2 min or so per intersection kill the fuel economy. (I can count about 22 one way for my commute)

Your mpgs may increase as the mileage on your truck increases.

Mine is a manual, about 13k miles in, and getting around 18. I do have a tonneau cover but probably not significant. My mileage did get better as it approached the 5-7k miles, then sort of leveled off.

I've noticed a drop in MPGs with the winter blend gasoline here in WV. It doesn't help mine sees a lot of short trips either though.

Go 'eers!

You're in Morgantown? That's why. There's nowhere in your vicinity that's not a mountain climb haha. It will improve as it breaks in, though. But climbs and wind kill the gas mileage on these.
Haha! You know Morgantown! Definitely uphill both ways but damn, 11.4 MPG!! Seems like something has to be wrong. I let it go to break in but I'm at 1,600 miles and no change.

I have a 2021 Mojave with AEV 2 in lift and 35 KO2. I get around 17 mpg in town and around 19 on the highway. I do live in the south. No mountain driving. I did notice the mpg improve about 2mpg after 3000 miles
