Yes, the 8.4 appears to be standard on Overland, but 0 mention of the premium sound.
When I bought in 2019, you could get the 7 or the 8.4 and then you could get the 8.4 with premium sound. The description NOW says HD radio, but nothing about premium sound. I'll have to look at my PDFs in the house. My shop chromebook has no access to my other computers.
Knowing the Jeep website can be inaccurate, it still forces the Premium option when you select the 8.4. I'm still waiting for my GM friend to have his monthly call with his Chrysler rep to figure out what we can and can't order. If I get any good tidbits, I'll pass them along.

I have hearing loss in the high frequencies - unfortunately for my safety and sanity, in the range of the human female voice. I need a good stereo to compensate - and good hearing aids to make sure I compensate when it's most critical to my health. Don't tell her I said that, though.

I was using very rough figures, knowing depreciation normally isn't a straight line, especially the first couple of years, it's a steep slope normally.

My first choice color is the hydro blue - like my current JT.
Second choice if blue disappeared, OR if there was one on the lot ready to go, would be snazzberry. I'd order blue if I can't find one on the lot, I'd take snazzberry if one existed ready to go.
I'd get these added options - Selec-Trac full time transfer case, MAYBE, MAYBE add aux switches. I have waffled on that one.
We have a loaded Overland and would most likely stick with that - it's what we know, the ride is good, tows fine, etc. and don't need the extra expense of the Rubicon lockers and electric sway bar disconnect.

I have noted that the "Alpine premium audio" seems to have disappeared for 2022?

The trick for me is that all local dealers sell only at MSRP. They won't budge, even when I tell them others will. They say we sell MSRP only. I was even told that by a couple. One flat said they don't do any affiliate discounts. So the problem now is - finding the right dealer who sells at other than MSRP.

Just picked up my 22 Overland, and the standard 8.4" system is indeed the premium Alpine audio, same as the optional system in years prior.

Really? I'll have to contact them.
I had good experience with them in 1995 when I bought my Ford.......
BUT.........
the last time I talked to them about Jeeps the sales guy didn't even know the differences between a Rubicon and an Overland, didn't know there were different bumper options for Rubicon and shot me a price on mine of 40,000 - and that was 2 years ago! (so looks like my truck is worth more now than it was then LOL)
Soured me when a sales person knows less than a customer and can't answer very simple questions.

Dealing with Spencer has shown me there can be honest, right up front, this is what we can do, no BS, deals without spending 3 hours back and forth with the sales guy constantly running into an office. I won't mess with the BS "I have to go check with my manager" 3 or 4 times, then finally the manager comes out and pretends to be a long lost family friend and starts talking anything but cars. Make one trip if needed, but that's it.

I may contact them but hope I get someone a lot better than the last guy I talked to about Jeeps. No wonder he looked hungry.

Jealous hearing all these great offers everyone is getting. Over here the dealer is sending me to carmax because they don’t know how to value my Jeep.

Thats enough to keep me from considering a trade.

Enough about me though. Good luck with whatever decision you make. Just glad you’re staying within the community.

From what I've read from all your previous posts, why would you take the risk of trading in you gladiator that seems to run 100% perfect. How mad would you be if you traded it in and got a new one that had problems? I realize trade in value are high but theres no way I would trade in a perfect running one but to each their own. Newer, always isnt better imho.

In my experience, Carmax is great to sell to. I’ve never bought a vehicle through them (they’re typically high), but I’ve sold several vehicles to them over the years.

It’s an extremely painless process and I’ve never received an offer from them that I didn’t think was decent. That’s of course balanced off by the fact that they’ll straight-up “gangster” your wallet/purse if you buy a vehicle from them.

Trade-in at dealers…I’ve had one favorable experience in 20+ years.

Carmax is over 2K lower than driveway and 3K lower than some other values.
When I was looking at them for selling my Chevy, it was a total joke - the local Chevy dealer gave me 4K over what Carmax was saying.

Spencer gave us a great price on my wife's WK2 and "showed his work" with a chart showing comparable trades, etc. - he was right in the middle. He wasn't afraid to back his pricing with his homework.

This time I'm doing homework beyond anything I've done in the past.

Vehicle ownership is a risk anyway. I'm not far off from being out of warranty, if the cam goes out, I'd not be happy either. I don't expect it, but I bet Dave and others didn't, either.
Most people buy these and have no issues, and by most I mean a big majority, not just 51%.
We've had fantastic luck with Jeeps, our 2021 WK2 went in at less than 800 miles for spark plugs - warranty. Irritating, but not the end of the world.
So far, we've not seen axle leaks or other leaks with 2022 model year unless I've missed something. As JAC04 (likely messed THAT one up) has shown, they've even addresses water issues in the A pillar area with the 2022 model year.
I'd bet there's a whole lot of people here who can say their JT has been very reliable with no issues, or only really minor issues.
Yes, it's a risk. But so is going out and starting mine right now...........
I do agree I have a very solid, reliable vehicle, and there's something to be said for that.........

Maybe it’s regional. There’s so much competition in my area that they likely have to be generous to keep the lot filled.

As mine has has some weird electrical gremlins, that has shaken my confidence in it, I personally would err on the side of keeping a reliable one that is modded exactly how you want it, vs taking a chance on another.
You can always add an extended warranty.

I would trade to get a few options (LED lights, proximity entry, LSD, SelecTrac) but I end up with a $58k Jeep to get all that, and no more Gator. Mine's paid for so I'm gonna stick with what I have.

It's not really modded "exactly how" I want it......... close, but I'd do some things differently if I did it again. (a chance to start over)
Gremlins can creep up at any time so although there's more risk in starting over (which would start with full factory warranty) there's also risk in age and miles.

Economically speaking - IF, and it's still an IF as no one has even come close, and I've not heard back from certain other dealers, it makes sense due to the cost of an extended warranty and the hedge line - the more time, the more miles, the more likely something will happen.
Adding the auto transfer case can't be done, so there's that as well.

Again, it depends on numbers, now. Depreciation would disappear once again, might even be able to work an extended warranty into a deal - MAYBE.

For all of the bugging the local dealer has done - the phone calls and emails of a couple weeks ago aside, I've gotten calls and emails from 3 different people in the past week, two just yesterday. But when I show them I'm not an average person walking in to buy whatever they think I should have off their lot - things slow down a lot. They are so used to selling to people walking in, accepting their numbers on trade and believing that MSRP is god they jump back when I show my research.
I find it funny, and scary........

SHADOWSPAPA -I see you are a very knowledgeable individual I almost wrote dark shadows what a tv show.I feel your experience with the salesman. When I have ever traded vehicles I write down on a piece of paper what I will take for mine and what I will give for theirs.I put that in my back pocket .When I traded my 2019 rubi wrangler for my glad.I was there for three hours. To funny salesman would go into MNGR office come back give me the numbers I would say no,off he went again.
He finally came out with better numbers then I wrote down.I pulled that piece of paper out and said thanks for the better deal. You should have seen the look on his face when he looked at my numbers.Do what you feel comfortable with.
