unfortunately i think the gladiator/wrangler are some of the worst most outdated vehicles available. still using solid axles from the 50s when everyone knows ifs is the best. im sure excited to see the new bronco raptor truck! just trolling but the bronco truck looks cool.
Lol.

Full size I will go ram. Being able to get the solid front axle is big. Raptor is only good at one thing. High speed. That is coming from my raptor friend. He uses his. Mid size Gladiator. Taco is better for daily driving but off road I think it is just a little behind. I see the taco getting stuck before the Gladiator. If you want to race offroad then taco wins.

I wheel with tacos, unless you spend a ton the small tires, limited articulation, and lack of a front locker hamper it greatly. ATRAC does help but honestly the jeeps bld is way better. Once you actually get a taco on 35s with a lift they work fine but that costs a ton of money and permanent body cutting to fit more than 32.5s

i use my jeep wrangler and will use my gladiator for hunting in mild to fairly rough terrain. those same trails have camps set up for people to use for free. its a popular place for the local overland guys to go camp. i often times will get stuck behind these guys in there toyota 4 runners and tacomas. i call the overlanders the rolling road block because there trucks are usually fairly mild builds with 31-33in tires and boy do they make it look hard. they will use traction boards and tow straps and have there buddy stand on the up hill side, side steps to keep there rigs from flipping but to me it never seems like they are close to flipping. the jeep just rolls effortlessly down most of these sections like an old loyal dog that wants to please its owner. the jeep design is solid. you have nothing to worry about. this is a picture of the worst part of the trail. other than my jkur on 35s which is a mild build all i have ever seen past it are atvs.

My real world experience is -- a Gladiator Rubicon with 37's, a good lift, and gears, will out crawl over big rocks and boulders any other IFS truck or electric....

Note: The electric cars like Rivian, with an independent motor on each wheel, do not look like they can actually lock axles and sync. up the tire rotation to slowly inch up waterfalls, etc... and IFS just does not have the articulation of the above JTR.

They say the wrangler is the best off-road vehicle. Then does that mean the Jeep Gladiator is the best off-road truck? I am curious what people think as I am not a SME and would like to know.
Yes

It's dimensionally big, for sure, really big - but it weighs over 9,000 lbs!!

The original H2 had a 125" wheelbase and is 190" long, that was actually decent for the overall length and breakover. The 3/4 ton axles made for a width that was problematic on MANY trails, the cuts in downed trees are Jeep width, you know?

The JTR has a similar problem, dammit. Not AS bad, but jeeze.

The Hummer EV is TWO FEET longer than an H2, and six inches wider. Good luck with that on a Jeep trail.

Ok I'm curious now, what made the Hummer EV a trainwreck? Was it the size?

We wheel with a fellow in a 2019 TRD Off Road (not Pro). He spent a fortune on a lift to clear 35's and that only worked after he cut/bashed/mashed space for the same tires (315/70R17 KO2's) my JTR rolls on (stock).

Tires are the most important upgrade you can do for wheeling, and he knows it, so he went for it.

It kind of hurt to look at the dents, though. The cuts were a little concerning, a lot of meat came off!

“Is the Jeep gladiator the best off road truck?” Yes. 5/5 stars, two thumbs up, the most smiles per mile driven on and off road, best in its class in going topless, best in everything.

Unpopular opinion. The Gladiator is terrible. its way too long for serious wheeling, cant tow well for crap due to stock brakes, the inside is way to cramped, and for 50k you would expect more... That being said, the gladiator is by far the best Jeep for me. For the life of me i could not justify the wrangler, but as soon as the diesel jeep truck came out i went full retard. i mean im probably 70-75k in and my rig can tow normal loads, climb any mountain, and looks way better next to a G63 any day of the week. a raptor, nor a TRX couldn'y match it in terms of rock crawling or just for looks. everyone just admires my dust covered jeep truck that has monster tires and i cant stop admiring from a distance. lol that being said. I will probably get a raptor after this, as i enjoy desert running way more. its a different use case, but my gladiator will always be a fantastic vehicle for this part of my life.
