I believe he was using my tune. I sent an email.

If that is the case I may be pulling my tunes.

As always I need to get a better understanding of all that has happened.

I did not think this was possible with one of my tunes, see that it plainly is, is very unsettling.
Thanks, just saw your email and responded. Appreciate that you reached out.

Just to answer other questions and maybe shed some light:

* Was running Davey's tune. We had been going back and forth, as he was helping me get some throttle adaptations worked in.
* This was pretty much entirely 91 octane fuel at this point, as I had filled up the tank with 91 prior to the install.
* Was using the Magnuson provided fuel injectors of course.
* Was using the NGK Ruthenium spark plugs. I mentioned previously, but these all came pre-gapped at .33"-.34" and I left it at that.
* Was using stock airbox and filter, I didn't end up switching to a cone that I previously indicated I was contemplating doing.
* Wasn't logging at the time, but in previous runs my IAT was only about 10-15f over ambient, so the intercooler did appear to be functioning as expect.
* As far as when and how: it was basically a WOT pull as I was merging onto the freeway from about ~50mph. Car in front of me was being a tad sluggish, and when they switched to the left lane it was clear so I let it rip. Within a few seconds of it kicking down it pretty much blew up: immediate loss of oil pressure, white smoke, dead. It all happened pretty quickly, but there was nothing leading up to it that indicated anything was going to happen. I haven't pulled the codes yet, but the only one I saw was the low oil pressure. Engine was running smooth, wasn't rough or stuttering - literally went from normal to blown in the blink of an eye.

If you read this, Ryan was doing all the right things.

I do not have a root cause for this failure. The usage is entirely normal.

I have stated that 2021s have had some teething issues, but non of my data has shown ignition related issues, it all has been throttle smoothness and over bearing torque management from the transmission.

I will be posting a warning I hope the moderators will make a sticky,

I need to contemplate whether or not I continue to support this endeavor. I just wanted to help. The charging part was because I am putting in 4-6 hours everyday with the number of people asking for help.

This is highly unexpected, horrible result and this is not what I want to bring upon or community. I have refunded Ryan and I appreciate his willingness to share his story.

Man, that really sucks. Hate to hear it! Couple more questions if ya don't mind...
Were you running small pulley tune? What year is yours?
And did you do the install?

Looking at the holes in the block, I'm guessing a rod, or rods, broke? Certainly would not be due to install mishap however.

No on the small pulley, just the regular one. It's a 21.

Yea, I did the install. It looks like rod(s) to me as well. To your point, where the damage is means it's not the install itself, but just the act of having it. I took a quick glance, but haven't seen any damage on top (e.g. the supercharger itself).

Totally confused on this was this the gas or Diesel engine and I see something about a refund is that in the tune or for a new engine also these Jeep engines are designed to run a certain way I can’t understand why people try to get more out of them than the engine has just like people putting the throttle commander on the Jeep because they say it’s sluggish my gladiator moves right on down the road running 37 inch tires it is the gladiator rubicon model okay before I posted this I see it was the gas engine I guess now you can get a Hemi I don’t think you’re warranty is going to cover that good luck

People just like tuning. Folks have been hotrodding since prohibition. I don't think he's expecting Mopar warranty to cover it. But if it was the tune that came with the supercharger, Magnusson (supercharger manufacturer) would cover it under their powertrain warranty. Unfortunately, it isn't, but, sometimes, you gotta pay to play. I don't want to pay, so I'm not playing, but I completely understand it. I've tuned several cars in the past.

Nope, not expecting any coverage. I knew the risks. Ultimately I should just be happy that it happened close to home and so soon, too, instead of building a false sense of confidence in it.

Whatever route you choose to go, good luck. Like @Terry said, If they make a crate hurricane, that'd be cool if you tune it, with the twin turbos. The 392 is rock solid reliable though, and proven.

Initial post was definitely vague, but of course it was a bit out of disappointment. It's why I posted in this particular forum, though.

Yea, unfortunately I need a solution sooner than later. I doubt a Hurricane swap will be available any time soon.

I knew this was a possibility when I started tuning, and quite frankly why it took me so long to even offer stuff. With the way things were going I got to a point I felt confident enough I had a better solution than anywhere else.

To be honest I am not a business guy and I was never in this to make money. I am a family guy with two kids and a day job, and my wife was totally freaked when I told her I was gonna do this startup, just for this very reason. She said she knew I was good at what I do but things happen, and what then. Well she is right. I probably should have more stuff in place to protect all involved, but like I said, I just acted this paying part so I could justify the time.

I try to be as honest and transparent with people as possible. I do my best to respond quickly to any issues, and my hope is my reputation will speak for itself.

Now that this has happened, I can tell you it has really given me pause. Ryan seems to be really reasonable about this, but there are many who wouldn't and not sure I could weather that storm.

Don't be too hard on yourself Dave. WE ALL know the risks taken when we go and do things like this to our rigs! Whose to say it wasn't a faulty rod from the factory?! I have seen brand new stock engines throw rods with less than 1k miles on them.
I'm sure the OP knew what he was getting into by doing the install hisself, which voided the Mag warranty from the get go, and going with your tune. Thats what I did as well, but knew whats at stake.
It just sucks all together for both of yall, but we'd hate to lose your support for those of us that have used your tune!!
