Jack Points for Floor jack (3 Ton Professional type)

Hello folks,

I ordered this floor jack and am wondering what the best lift points are on the Gladiator. I am asking about lift points (IF any) beyond the ones shown in the manual for changing tires...(I will be using it to help facilitate undercarriage cleaning, at this time and who knows what else later)...

It has a 2 foot maximum lift height so I hope to be able to place it somewhere to get the most lift on the truck.

My first jack of this type ever. - Oh the things I do for this Mojave (it even matched the Hydro-Blue!) - unconditional Love! ? hahaha.

Anywhere on the frame as long as you don't pinch something (electrical, tubing, etc).

Anywhere on the front or rear axle, as long as you don't pinch something (electrical, tubing, etc).

NEVER anywhere on a body panel anywhere on the JT.

Thanks...Do you happen to know if the Gladiator parking break "locks" both rear wheels like in most cars which use hand breaks (according to google)? I'm asking because my driveway is slightly sloped and like to understand this before I jack it up.

Don't rely on the parking brake. Get some wheel chocks to keep it from rolling.

Howdy friend, I hope your experience with using a jack for general under-truck work is better than mine. I upgraded to that same jack when I got the gladiator from my 1.5 ton low profile racing-days one. But I found that while it’s the perfect tool for the job when you need to get a wheel off the ground, it was cumbersome and eating into my under-truck real estate when I wanted to apply fluid film to the undercarriage. Instead, since I already had a pair of rhino ramps, I bought another pair (They’re like $60/pair) and drove my truck onto the 4 ramps. This bought me plenty of room to move around under the truck, I could even sit up in some places under the bed. I could leave the truck on the ramps overnight and pick up where I left off the next morning. It was a little tricky getting the truck onto the ramps since mine is a manual, and my driveway is pretty slick concrete (use 4wd or the rear ramps shoot out the back, ask me how I know). But I will def use this method again in the fall to inspect and touch up the rustproofing.

Do you have a link? The Rhino Ramps I found are not very high...

I use to use ramps with my Camaro way back in early 80s when changing oil...

At 66 now, I would need some very wide ramps and well designed that I wouldn't go over the top .

Yeah, the specified height is just over 8 inches, but the fact that all 4 corners are up somehow makes it feel quite luxurious under there.
I bough the second pair from a local midwestern hardware store. I feel you on the age, I’m not quite up there like you but have a bad back.

Set parking brake and a brick behind a tire that is on the ground.

Yea, they look good, I just don't feel comfortable doing that any more...I didn't feel "that" comfortable doing it when I was 30 either, I just felt a little braver - lol.

They are a big help, I got one about a month ago JEG and have been under Mojave with it.

Thanks for the idea, I am going to do all of the above (and using the hard rubber chocks - I have no bricks ).

Attached is the OEM recommended lift points for both floor jack and 4 point hoist lifts. Most times, I just use the lower control arm pivot point on whatever axle end and side I am lifting with a floor jack.
