Did you search for and read all the threads about this exact same rant, because there are a bunch of them?
Too many other tech posts swamp out search feature. We have one thread in GD and one Section for trips, runs, trials, and stuff like that. I looked up Rubicon Trail, well just guess what this came up with.? Lots of Gladiator Rubicon discussions. I'm sure some have brought it up but really to find it becomes a task in its own.

Why do you care how people use their vehicles?

Like, why does it even come across your mind as a thought through the day, even more so to make a post about it?
Yep, the message I got, could've been written better for sure, it's the tone of it. There are at least two camps of ownership and all can be included in for example "what do we ALL do with and to our Jeeps, on and off-road" but that can be redundant since we already have sep posts for 'To' and 'With'. Let's move on huh

It's a Jeep community, you need to ignore or filter more, it is what it is and nothing will change the numbers. This thread is unnecessary IMO, you're going to get hammered on.

who cares what ppl do with their jeeps or why they do it. “Posers and mall crawlers” or just normal ppl that buy a jeep for a daily driver is probably 90% of buyers and likely the reason jeeps still in business. Ppl should stop judging or name calling ppl cuz they don’t buy jeeps to off-road. Makes you look a certain type of way. What I like about the jeep community is most ppl are accepting and do you, kinda ppl. The diversity in ppl is what’s makes owning a jeep so great. That’s just my opinion
My follow up comment.
Some people just want a convertible, some people just want "the look"...like some people bodybuild and never actually compete (well, most don't). Eh, I usually don't care...sometimes I think its stupid to waste your time and money on something you don't actually use. But to each their own.
Posers and mall crawlers are just the facts, its not name calling really. They want to "pose" as an offroader and/or they just want to drive the streets.

People Work?
Tech posts brought me here and keep me here. I suspect that's the majority but I don't care. I read some of the trail posts when I have the time.
I appreciate the diversity here and whoever set this up and maintains it does a great job with it.

Rest assure there was no intent to incite anyone, but as typical forums and FB postings goes someone will take it differently and take offense.

Reason to bring up the old days, we saw it differently. Simply because the only way you'd know what we did was by real photographs in some album (as in physical album) and some chain smoking old guy telling you about the pics, word of mouth,.. well you got the gist. Rarely did anyone took a side other than Chevy vs Ford thing. Jeep guys had our own thing, and I was a FJ40 guy so if you that old you'd know the debate, hence why I even mentioned it. Later I got a CJ5. Everyone off roaded on a shoe string budget because you sure as hell not going to beat up a new vehicle. That's no different than today really. But the Jeep community base was about getting out.

Today, its about a totally different culture. Pretty much 100% online and everything is about being on one side or the other.

There is no way to discuss this without someone taking offense so easily? There is no tone in a message. It's a message. How someone picks up a tone via text?
Problem with FB pages are only inexperienced people ask questions...and the are the same ones over and over...flooding feeds.
I brought up my experience here and look where that got me. lol (on a laptop so no emojis)

And youtube is ... great and suck at the same time. Some well made videos professionally produced and rest kind of trash, like mine.
No one's YT is more suck than mine though, ha!

For it was mostly about the purchasing aspect of it, finding the discount dealers really reeled me into the idea of getting a JT and at a deal.

My last post here was a troll response, but I sure do wish I spent more time wheeling and less time just hanging out at home fixing things or running day to day errands. My truck gets more use moving furniture, dirt, trash and crap my wife buys or just soaking in the sun in the parking lot of my employer than it ever will on any trail and that hurts deep down.

We went to OBX 4WD area not too long ago. That's our only adventure so far. Didn't even need 4WD..but used it. Got the truck mostly for hunting and camping. Next year we plan on having a RTT and going on a few trips. Hopefully the following year we can get to Yellowstone and do a 2 week excursion....if it's not a lake by then.

We’ll be headed there in September so my wife can photograph the wild horses, but we’ll be flying and renting a Wrangler. Any tips?
