How’s this look for carrying bikes and kayaks?

We have two Perception Pescadors, 10’ & 12’, and two Rad fat tire e-bikes. I would love to take all to the beach this year, but wanted to get y’all’s input before dropping all this money! Main thoughts/questions are about the bikes fitting on those brackets for the racks and the kayaks being secured to the rack. I just put the kayaks in the bed now, but wonder about them being up higher while dangling off the back as much as they do. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

I was in your shoes a month ago…. Then went on a goat path and purchased a bed canopy ??‍?

Anyways- personally I don’t like things hanging out of the bed more than a couple feet if preventable.
We were going to go with the Yakima bed rack- with a roof rack on the cab for kayaks.

For bikes (we haul 4) and we were going to run two bikes in the bed using the trail rail up front with the fork adapter, and carry 2 on the hitch….


Now we have a canopy with roof rails.

Waiting on the cab rails/roof rack to come in for the kayaks.

And we shifted gears to this bike carrier- also hasn’t arrived yet

I’m going to assume you haven’t purchased a bike in awhile….


The bikes aren’t very heavy. But the verticals rack will allow us to take all 4 bikes out and room for one of the kids friends if they come along.

If you are only carrying two bikes there are other options. But, vertical is in my opinion the best way to go if you are going to use the hitch. Especially if you are going to take any trails and have the bikes with you.

Do what works best for you ?

I have the 18" Max-Modular rack, the outboard bike mounts, and the Access Literider cover. It all works together. I use 1-up USA roof rack bike trays mounted to the outboard bike mounts for my bikes. I have them setup for fat bikes. It's not a cheap setup but it is pretty versatile and I keep both wheels/tires on the bikes when transporting. Oddly, I don't have any pictures with the fatbike on the truck but it fits with no issue. I don't carry Kayaks so I can't add anything with respect to those.

Give KB Voodoo a call or shoot them an email. They are not too far away from where I live and I know the one guy over there uses his rack to carry kayaks and bikes exactly like that when towing his travel trailer.
They could probably point you in the right direction in terms of kayak racks and different bike mounting options.

Did it cause any scratches/damage to the car? I'm reading this review and planning to buy Rhino Racks.

On a recent camping trip, I mounted two kayaks on my Yakima overhaul hd and bikes over the back of the tailgate. I now also have a bak revolver… but that is rolled up with bikes in the back. You could also do a hitch type bike mount if you don’t need your hitch.

I've got a 1Up carrier expanded for 4 bikes.

One nice thing about the 4 bike setup is that it sets the bike back far enough so you can use your tailgate.

I'd love to get some side mount racks but am on the fence about drilling into my SmartCap.
