It's definitely a different paint process on the plastic, almost looks like vinyl, in person it's not that noticeable at least not enough for me to be super bothered by it.Punk'n Metallic is a unique color because it contains glass flakes, rather than metal flakes or "pearl" balls that Jeep is more familiar with. It seems manufacturers often have a challenging time with unique colors. There's a 2019 Mustang Bullitt near where I work. The green on it is gorgeous, but in direct sunlight, you can see that the paint doesn't lay the same on the plastic bumper as it does on the metal hood. It's perfectly obvious to a casual observer.
I wonder if something similar is going on here. Doesn't excuse it, but the unique nature of the paint might help explain it.
