The plan when I got an all white diesel a few weeks ago was to replace the grille with a black one. I didn’t care for the new style when it was released but after seeing them on the road for a while I’ve come around. I remember the temperature testing that was talked about back in 23 and at the time I thought it was fairly inconclusive. I haven’t looked at those threads in a couple of years though so I may have missed something. When I do change my grille I’m going with the new style but only because I like the look and want a little extra clearance for my winch. It was so tight on my 2022 that I finally just cut the lower tabs off. I’d love to see lower temps too but I’m not counting on it

I went with the 24 plus grille for the last year. I actually really didn't like it much before I bought it. But I was looking for more room for my cables on my winch because it was right up against the grille and a real pain to remove. But I tell you what once I got the grille on there the original grille looks pretty lame to me now from my '21. Every time I walk up to my Jeep combined with other upgrades I've done to the front end I can't think of my Jeep any other way.

Question is in the title. Looking at changing it up and wondering if there’s a benefit performance wise to going with a ‘24 grille instead of the same one that’s on there now. I don’t really have a preference either way. I like em both.
Swapped the OEM for the upgraded Grille. AS far as I can tell, there is no real difference in cooling. I did NOT put the bottom piece on the new grille allowing some degree of air flow to the coolers.

Old Grill the slots are taller the new Grille the bars are open.... I think it is a wash in air flow/ Cooling.

New grill debate reminds me of a tornado air spacer kit, been around for 25 years and no matter how many tests and people say if will not help air flow its still being sold and bought. Proves PT Barnum was correct.

I’m still on the fence. I do like the fact that I can manage the winch better. I can’t get the grille off right now the way it is. I have time to decide. Appreciate all the input from everyone.

Back in the carb days, yes a spacer COULD net you a small gain of a couple HP. But with modern EFI and tuning they don't really do much, unless you're drag/circuit racing and are willing to drop $1k+ on 0.1sec time reduction. Even modern motorcycles don't make the gains they once did due to modern EFI/tuning. Check out Moore Performance, he tests headers vs stock (kawasaki video) and velocity stacks (oem vs aftermarket) and the gains they do/don't provide for the cost/use cases.

What! Tell me it ain't true.
You mean
my Tornado does not increase horsepower?

I found this Tornado in my '98 Wrangler
that I bought in 2014.
I was at least the third owner.
A previous owner had put it in the air intake.
I posed it on the mouth of the intake
for the picture
and then put it on a shelf for posterity.
If anything, it probably obstructed airflow.

On a side note, when motorcycle racing
introduced restrictor plates, like NASCAR,
Yamahas suspiciously became faster
than the competition.
When inspected, the "no go" gauge
was no go,
meaning their restrictor plates were legal.

Yamaha had cleverly added venturis
before and after the restrictor plate
increasing the velocity of the air intake
giving them an advantage.

See that same line of thought leads me to believe it doesn’t improve cooling, or at least very very little because if it really did make a difference I would think they would bring back the diesel engine because it would help with that cooling issue.
