NEW NEW, or reman?
Not really common to get brand new never ever been bolted on water pumps at parts stores.
Brand new ,Never had a mark on it and no refinish either .freshly spanked !!
[/QUOTE]

Reman won't necessarily have marks or have been refinished - but if they say new on the box, it has to be new.

Also - a lot of those stores sell new made by other companies..........they are new, but the source can vary. Seals - there's only so many companies that make those so I'd go by the casting itself.

So the dealer can't stock enough parts because they have multiple models but magically the parts store can...for every brand? Seems legit.
You are seriously saying a local parts store stocks all parts for all vehicles and never has to say "it will be here tomorrow"
Yeah, right. Look at that building and tell me they have any water pump for any car or truck made in the last 10 years.
Sure, I buy that.

Water pump - nothing here, has to be shipped in. The dealership likely would have it, but if not, it would be here next day.
So it's a wash.

And an OEM one at that.

My '22 JTR still has the factory batteries and my ESS is turned off with a Tazer. I've had no problems with them but thinking about doing an R & R while I can do it in my garage. What do ya think? Best batteries ?

Hotels do this too... It's euphemistically called "Best Available Rate" or "BAR." If you're paying BAR rate at a hotel, that's the MOST they can charge you and you unfortunately failed at finding the real price others are paying.
I've always wondered about that price on the back of the door of some hotels. I paid a couple hundred for a night and the card behind the door said that the maximum rate was $849 if I remember correctly. I'm sure there's a seasonal adjustment but, damn!

Ir was a different name but cant remember what it was . Exact fit no tickering or funny business at all. All outlet location mating surfaces etc.. and you know how those pumps look like the state of Florida

That's how water pumps work - they are pretty much all exact replacements. No matter the vehicle, the pump or the source.
Companies that make them can tool up really fast - and start producing in a very short time. All they need are either one original, or, the prints used to make them.
Heck, a high school shop could make the castings.

Aside from the double the price and the fact the parts house will ship it to my house for free... it's a wash. The water pump discussion started because stan was told 7 days by the dealer, but yes sometimes they have it in stock. Sometimes they'll have the part next day. Sometimes it's weeks out. The consistency is that it will be over priced.

There's a point that's pretty easily seen........ and why I typically walk in with a printout if it's a matter of parts.

The wheel centers - the center caps on my car, originally plastic from the factory, were made of aluminum at a local high school. They ran out of class time to finish them and a wheel restoration shop did the final CNC work on the part that shows.
The HS used a factory part, figured out how to make it out of solid aluminum, and went from there. They'll outlast the car. I've had a lot of people want to "borrow" one of them to find someone to duplicate them, but with only 4 - don't feel like letting one of them go!

We had a foundry at my highschool. I even wondered if it is still there. Most of that sort of work has left the country. We also had a printshop. That technology is long gone.

Just to close-out this discussion... Some good news and I'll let this one go.

Service writer called and said the manager agreed the pricing on parts was somewhat high. Offering me some future service credit. Not a lot, but at least they agree that total is kind of crazy for batteries considering not even Mopar sells them at full MSRP.

So... Giving them another chance in the future - cautiously. But it's the sign of a good business when you at least try to keep a regular, local customer happy.

BTW - Hope all the folks here defending outrageous dealer prices never find themselves in my situation. Thanks for calling me a fool and telling me I need to learn a lesson. Really helpful there chief!
Awesome you got a credit. Use that credit if your problem resurfaces. Have then replace the green star connector behind the glove box, $80 part.
