I have my oil changed for the same reason as you, tire rotation at the same time. My back is getting too bad to do the tires anymore. I mark things so I can keep everyone honest, I have caught 2 different Toyota Dealerships in the past not doing everything they were supposed to do. It’s terrible when we have to be worried about a simple oil change and tire rotation service.
Hahaha. Baxter. Dead on! Have to keep an eye on everything and everyone!

If you’re not off roading it, nothing will get near it. If you are, an engine skid plate alleviates that. I have a fumoto valve on my wife’s Volvo.

That is the ultimate set up! You don't even have to transfer from a drain pan. Damn that's nice!

Thank you Dan, I might just go this route. I really like the extra protection you've installed. I'm going to have to look into that as well.
Any time. And if you’re not doing extreme trails, there are lots of cost effective engine-tranny pan skids out there for the occasional hit. Less expensive than full belly skids for heavy use. For moderate use the factory skids are fine, except under the engine and tranny.

I don't plan on anything extreme, I'd rather keep it within "sane" boundaries. I like challenging trails but I'm more into getting into and out of beautiful places and blue or green trails. Plus, I drive the Gladiator daily and I depend on it. I'm going up to Denver to have the Mopar lift and 35" wheels installed on Monday. The next upgrade will be the engine and tranny pans, in 2026. I'll start looking into that soon. I didn't realize how exposed they are.

Where are you in CO? I’m super close to Denver.

I'm in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We only have a few Jeep dealerships in a hundred mile radius and the work I've had done (I previously had a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk) wasn't up to professional standards, I'm being polite. I follow TFL on YouTube and they had the same work done to the Gladiator they used to have and the mechanic who did the work is still there (Johnson Auto plaza, in Brighton). I was very impressed with all of the work he did so I'm driving up. It's a big deal to me, obviously : )

A long time ago I got in the habit of envisioning a straight line coming out of the drain plug and then aligning the middle of the pan to that. Oil shoots out, after a few seconds I give the pan a little pull closer to the front, rest of it drains in.

It does. I still got at least some on the floor. My wife’s Volvo would come out so fast it would overflow the well in the top of the pan before it could drain in. Drove me nuts. Plus the transfer of the dirty pan into a container to take to the parts store. I installed a valve on hers as well.
