@JeepCares We went this route. Your team opened a ticket, I messaged back and forth with one of your reps for several weeks. After several weeks of communication with him having me change settings, try different cables, etc... He told me the problem was a known issue, blamed the phone and closed the ticket.

It was a complete waste of my time, and to this day, no one has ever actually checked a damn thing physically on the vehicle. The dealer took it for a 5 min drive, and said duplicated, but blamed the heavy object inside the center console. They didn't remove it and try again, they just blamed something and closed the ticket.

I no longer go to that dealership! Between this incident and their inability to schedule service appointments for oil changes, I moved to a different dealership.

I am not willing to waste my time again for your team to tell me they shouldn't even have a ticket open. Sorry, just isn't worth my time. This isn't my first FCA product. I knew you guys have issues repairing problems. I also knew what I was getting into with quality.

If you guys really want to help, schedule an appointment with a dealer and actually have someone check the cable connections between the radio and the center console. Until there is an appointment agreed to for that, I have no intention to spend hours of my time to be told it is a known issue and a phone problem.

iPhone 11, 12, and 13 represent a large chunk of the mobile phone market. If your vehicle doesn't work with them, you need to stop advertising Apple Car Play!
Hi again,

We're sorry to hear about the previous experiences you've had. However, we ask that you follow up with our teams privately so that we can collect your VIN (private information) and pull up the information specific to you vehicle. We go through troubleshooting steps and ask various questions so that we get an understanding of your situation without applying a blanket solution since not everyone may be experiencing the same exact concerns, or for the same reasons.

Given the general information you've shared, we found a couple TSB's that may be applicable to you. Note that they are for different Uconnect models. As our teams are focused on the social media aspect of customer care and are not equipped to provide assistance via telephone, we kindly recommend calling 877-426-5337 if you'd prefer to speak to a Jeep Customer Care Specialist, directly.

Thanks,

Courtney

I just picked up my iPhone 13 pro max and have nothing but issues now while being connected to CarPlay, I use the phone and usually disconnects 1-2 times each call and I go to speaker to resume the call very annoying itā€™s gotta be 100% the new iPhone and software update thatā€™s making the CarPlay not work correctly I had a XS max before the 13 and worked perfectā€¦. I will be trying 15.0.2 today to see if that helps at all

I will say that since receiving my iPhone 13 Pro Max Iā€™ve had nothing but issues w multiple crash/disconnects as I drive using maps, phone and music. Like others have mentioned. I have to unplug then plug back in for it to pull up CarPlay again. The interesting thing is that I had an iPhone Pro Max 11 and even beta tested iOS 15 with no issues whatsoever. As soon as I got the new phone I experience frequent disconnects.

I do have an occasional reconnect which I have to think is due to the Car2Play wireless (plugged into the console). I do notice that the screen will lock up about once per trip. It still functions so all I have to do is switch between CarPlay and the camera or something and I can get it back. It happens way more frequently if I am streaming music instead of listening to playlist that I downloaded to the phone while using Apple Maps. Seems like that's what breaks it.

Maybe itā€™s just me, but Iā€™ve found it I am using the USB-C connection itā€™s pretty stable. If Iā€™m using the the old school USB-A connection itā€™s very unstable

So this will be filed in the "hope it doesn't jinx me section" but...
I did confirm that whatever issue exists is specific to the console port. I tried my OEM cable, Car2Play, and the cable that came with the connection kit from Jeep all with the same results. Flawless on the dash port and reboots, reconnects, and freezes on the console port. I did this over a week period and even thought about just living with the Car2Play dongle hanging from the dash but my OCD wouldn't allow it!

Reading through this thread, I came across this from @arsy51:
Disable USB Restricted Mode". Long and short:
1. Go into Settings
2. Go into "Face ID & Passcode"
3. Scroll to the bottom, and look for "USB Accessories". Mine (iPhone 12 Pro Max) was disabled (by default); I enabled it.
4. Exited Settings.
Like him, mine was disabled by default so I thought why not. I tried everything else. I plugged in the Car2Play in the console and I noticed that the first time I connected after the switch, it seemed to connect faster than usual but I was still not optimistic given the history.

A week and and a half later, it still connects quickly and I haven't had a single lockup, reboot, disconnect or anything! I have tried breaking it with the normal steps of Apple map navigation and streaming music (not downloaded) from Apple music without fail.

iOS V 15.1

Hope this helps somebody! Thanks @arsy51 !

When I installed iOS 15.0 on my iPhone 11, Carplay (Amazon music) took a dump. iOS 15.0.1 didn't fix the issue but after installing 15.0.2, CarPlay has worked without issues.

The most obvious answer is to switch to Android :)

I also have been having issues with my JTā€™s system randomly disconnecting from CarPlay using any of the USB ports. I have changed the setting as stated above and will report back if that doesnā€™t seem to fix it.

I can't agree more - I bought the Jeep Gladiator b/c it was best in class AND it had a nice CarPlay interface - I work out of my car quite a bit.

The dealers have NO IDEA what's wrong when I speak to the service manager and bringing it in is crazy in Southern California - they are literally, taking cars, holding them for 5 days as they work through the backlog of service issues.

I switched dealers and that service department doesn't answer the phone and doesn't return the calls for messages.

I have been mostly happy with the Jeep but this CarPlay issue and the wandering steering on the freeway and the continued inability to get this fixed or looked at without leaving my car for 10 days seems silly.

No loaners and they will arrange for a rental car but I pay out of pocket and if you've seen rental car prices you get why I would be upset.

Stop advertising CarPlay - it does NOT work and you are not capable of fixing it right now - it isn't the phone, it isn't the software, it is an issue with the jeeps hardware and inability to conform to Apple specifications.
