I have a 2021 Mojave and I’m looking at new wheels , I’m wondering which backspacing is better 17x8 with 4.50 backspacing or 17x8 with 5.0 backspacing?

I already have 35x12.5x17 bfg’s on stock wheels but want to buy new wheelsWhat size tires will you be using? It’s likely either wheel would be fine.
You should be fine with either one, so it comes down to preference. There’s a 12mm difference in where they will sit in the wheel well. Here’s what the 5” backspacing (+12 offset) would look like.I already have 35x12.5x17 bfg’s on stock wheels but want to buy new wheels
In what width? If I ever buy aftermarket wheels, I will likely go 4.5 for mine.
Backspace is a universal measurement so there's absolutely no difference for inside rubbing between any wheel width given a particular backspacing. Stock wheels are 6" backspace (+44mm on a 7.5" wheel) so I'd probably call that a reasonable maximum. You could probably do an extra half inch if you have the wide axles. With an 8 inch wheel, what's the maximum amount of backspacing we can handle before we have issues with rubbing on the inside? I live in Pennsylvania, so the tires can't stick out at all legally. So I'm trying to ensure the tires stay tucked, and want to give myself a range to work with
Probably 8.5”In what width?
It depends on which trim you have, and what size tires you will be running. Rubicon trim. I'll be running 35x11.5r17 or 35x12.5r17. I'm leaning towards 35x11.5r17 to be on the safe side here. I don't want to spend my hard earned cash to get a fix it ticketIt depends on which trim you have, and what size tires you will be running. Nothing is absolute.
