Well, it's been a day

I started this morning prepping to install the new SC unit that was overnighted to me.

While waiting, I decided to replace the factory idler pulley. I think the existing one was just fine, but in the spirit of eliminating anything that could be troublesome and have caused that noise, I picked up a new one. That was a mistake. It cost me $55 and it has exactly the same play in it as the one I just took off...Oh well...

Oh, and that Rustoleum bed liner stuff is brilliant, as my British friends would say. I think I have a new favorite. It is shinier than the others I have used, with a unique texture/appearance.

Well, the day was getting right along, and I was dressed for the occasion, so why waste any time?

I have a bit of a pile of parts I haven't installed, so what the heck, I'll pop those Metal Cloak side steps on that I have wanted to see and use.

I had no idea it would turn into some sort of satanic ritual, trying to loosen those door bolts, which are #50 Torx. I mean, they would not budge. I cranked so hard on my 3/8" drive #50 that I twisted it all to heck and back.

The supercharger still had not arrived...

Do I search a YouTube video where the installer emphasizes the need for a 1/2" drive and a long breaker bar!

What??? Breaker bar? These things aren't holding the wheels or the bumper on, so why would anyone torque those bolts as if they were holding a small state in place?

And, the Supercharger had still not arrived.

Ah, screw it, I'll drive to the closest tool store, Harbor freight and buy a big one. (Mistake).

I find a 1/2" drive #50 Torx bit and get my breaker bar, and yup, if you really lean on it, it will just break the bolt free about 6 oz torque short of grenading, which mine did on the third bolt.

So, feeling the blood pressure climbing up toward the yellow range on the pressure gauge, I decide to just wait out the supercharger, which is being delivered today (NOT).

So now it's dark outside, and I am looking for the towel to toss in the ring, err, garage. What a day...

Try placing the bit it the door hinge bolt and giving it a few taps ( dont hit the door. ) also a electric impact that oscillating action may actually breaks it loose the vibration.. maybe some PB blaster( swear by that stuff.) 🤔
Dont just tossing ideas out it's probably steel to aluminum corrosion.

I took the socket and taped on it with a small ball-peen before trying to loosen it, nothing...

I thought about using the 3/8" electric impact, but I don't have a socket at the moment! I use PB Blaster as well, but not on this. Maybe have to give it a squirt.

Thing is, this was supposed to be a 30 min project, not turn into another "thing."

Getting the supercharger reinstalled and running is Job 1. Tuesday morning, I get a new knee installed. I opted for the Metalcloak joint since it has the most deflection. ;-)

Seriously, really getting the new knee on Tuesday and that means no wrenching for some time. I had a goal of having the Jeep running under boost before I transform into a bionic version of myself.

You may not even need that Boost . Steve Austin could run 55 or 60 MPH . And I am sure the bionics are better than what they used to be .

I think I'll get this thing to 100% before I go under the knife. I have a solid inbound on the SC head unit for this afternoon. Should be able to get that reinstalled along with the bumper and winch over the weekend. Who knows, maybe even get those door bolts loosened!

That sucks but I’m glad something positive came out of it. I’m not remotely anti military, but I would not have wanted to go to Vietnam.

I have a good one...Will hurt like heck, but I'll be fine. Just gonna slow me down a bit, and I am already looking at all the long-arm and coilover options...

I guess if you want to look at the bright side, he missed out on the war. Tough bill to pay though to get out of it.
