We have a dutchie/mal, corso and 2 poodles. I work with working dogs hence the photo. Detection, protection and sport.
Gotcha, very cool! Our mal just turned 6. My good friend has a dutchie, and my brother in law has a corso. All great dogs!

Engine power is not the differentiator for Gladiator, its main purpose is a class leader off road. It does that with aplomb, in looks, suspension (trim does come into effect on this of course), optionization, aftemarket options too, unmatched-class-leading 4WD-engineering, and yes the engine which has plenty of power and then some for the task if you know how to use the transmission....It cruises on the highway just fine, albiet it does take high cross winds a little "personal" :)...I've always said the only way I would sugget making this almost perfect Truck more perfect is to lower the roof hight a tad.

I cross shopped the JT with the Colorado ZR2. I found the ZR2 Multimatic shocks to be supernatural, and the rest of the truck to be crap. The front seats were horrendous, my wife and I both wanted out after 10 minutes. Rear seats are very small, overall interior quality is crap, V6 is mediocre (just like the JT) except for the fact that I could get a manual in the JT. Add in the bonus of the JT being able to do Jeep stuff and it was a no-brainer. I drove the Mojave immediately after the ZR2 and it was all over.
I totally get you. One of the reasons I wanted a JT was to have a manual trans.

You should revisit the colorado just to see how much it has changed. I spent roughly 18 months working out of several different prototypes. Sometimes spending 12 hours a day driving across the country. Wasn't a bad vehicle at all. The trucks ride and drive incredibly nice. Not to mention that you have more torque available than a 5.3L starting at 1200 RPM makes it drive effortlessly.

This is my opinion:
GM is really trying to step up their truck and SUV game if not only to provide the resources necessary to pursue electric vehicles.

7700# towing capacity... gee, i wonder why they targeted this number. Just wait, the 2024 JT refresh will come out with 7750# maxtow package
I don't feel it is a coincidence :D

Unless that maxtow is a diesel or an inline 6, it won't feel as good as the new Colorado. That truck really pulls great.

And AFE already makes a bunch of products for the 2.7t in the Silverado, so I'm sure they adapt them to the new Colorado in a efficient manner.

I wish they would adopt the 10L80e with the new Colorado

I sold my Colorado for the Gladiator. 2023 doesn't seem to fix a single issue I had or the reasons I sold it. The back seat is still tiny and sucks if you have kids in a car seat on a regular basis. It also doesn't have air vents in the back so it gets very stuffy when you have kids in car seats in the back seat. My family hated the backseat on the truck but love the Gladiator.

The two trucks fill different demographics. The colorado was a great truck for just me and if I wasn't married with kids I would have likely kept it and not traded it in. I love the Gladiator like it more but the cost difference would have been hard to justify if it weren't for the family.

I came from a 2015 Colorado work truck 1wd manual trans (1st year of when they brought it back), and had 0 significant issues with it over the 90k I owned it. Objectively it was great as a simple work truck and never let me down, other than the 1 wheel peel having issues in heavy snow.

That being said, no more manual is a buzzkill for me and no removeable top/doors just seals the deal. The only chevy truck that catches my interest right now would be a 73-87 Squarebody.

Ugh, 2+ inches wider, 3+ inches longer, +550 lbs for ZR2 trim. Always moving in the wrong direction. (not that this is unique to GM of course.)

They're dropping the diesel, no surprise. But I guess we can expect fairly good MPG and range from the 2.7T gas motor with cylinder deactivation.

Front and rear e-lockers now in ZR2, before it was G80 rear and front e-locker so this is arguably an upgrade?

Tailgate storage compartment is nice
The GM is only 1" longer, the 3' is the wheelbase. Gives it less frontal overhang.

That 23 is more ugly than the prior years. The body lines look better but that front end looks like it’s off a compact car and it looks like it’s missing a headlight or something.
