she drives 12 miles per day averaging 35 mph

For past 4000 miles, no issues. Recently noticed around 35-40 mph trans would stick in 3rd gear with RPMS around 3900 then on highway it would stick in 5th at 65-70mph. I can manually shift into 6th, 7th and 8th no issues. No check engine light. Unmarried Tazer to no effect, same issues.

Took to dealer who are friends of mine. Talked about Tazer, told them exactly as stated above, of course gave me song and dance about aftermarket Tazer blah blah blah. They told me that there were 2 TCM updates available, which they did, no change. Then they told me they would have to program using their program for the 35s at a cost of $165. I approved. They said now it goes into 6th sometimes. They opened a Star case and are not sure how to proceed. It has been in the shop 12 days now, no answers.

This is our 3rd Jeep with same types builds etc, the first 2 had no issues. Come on Jeep.

Highly advise letting the warranty play out, yes it may take a while (they should provide you with a rental, or give the vehicle back for the time being) but you're still in your bumper to bumper so whatever it is they should cover it.

Gas or diesel?

Mine will hold gears longer now I’m on 35s, 4.10 gears and I live at 6000 feet elevation. I don’t worry about it too much. I figure it probably needs the additional torque to maintain speed.

Part of me thinks the poor thing just needs to be driven a lot. The computer that controls the trans is constantly learning, and nearly all the data its receiving is 12 miles a day at neighborhood speeds.

I'd say have the dealership put it in learn or quick learn mode and then drive it a lot.

Yes, I can put it in manual and upshift with no issues.
Probably a shift solenoid "box" that is faulty . I may be wrong . May need to have TCM hard rest for a relearn . Read somewhere in here that unhooking both batteries for an hour can make it go into a relearn I maybe wrong about that also .
