Hello Everyone!

I'm looking at purchasing a jeep gladiator and have been looking for 2023 Mojaves and the 2024 Willys. With the 2024 Willys introducing the rear locker and Off Road Plus mode, is the added price for the Mojave worth it? Please let me know if I'm missing anything

Willys:
+New Grill (Really like the new look)
+New infotainment screen
+ ~5k cheaper than the 23 Mojave (Can be used for upgrading parts)

Mojave:
+Nicer suspension
+Nicer interior (Minus the screen)
+4.10 Gear Ratio
+Reinforced? Chassis (Not sure if this is just more weld points or if it's actually different)

Are you comparing msrp for the $5k difference? You should be able to get them way down on a '23 vs the '24. Msrp on my mojave was $65k and I only paid $52k. Lifted on 37s, winch, front bumper, and sway bar disconnects I'm still under $54k into it after selling the stock 33s. I do tend to drive at speed through the desert so I would not even consider trading it for a brand new Willys.

My thoughts....
Unless you are proficient in re-gearing, or have no intention of going with a bigger tire, go with the Mojave due to the 4.10 gear.
While 3.73s do "ok" with a 35" tire thanks to the 8 speed auto, the 4.10s do even better. Around here at least, a quality re-gearing is going to set you back $3k or more. There goes the majority of the price difference you initially compared.
Now you're paying about 2k difference for not only the better suspension you mentioned, but the increased ride height of the Mojave as well as the high rise fenders that more easily accommodate larger tires.

Not trying to make a decision for you, but just wanted to give you some food for thought.

All subjective but, 35s on my Mojave, couldn't imagine doing it with 3.73s.

If the Willys is 5k cheaper, you wouldn't be able to build it comparably to the JTM for that amount. To even come close you'd have to do the work yourself.

Having said that, I drove a base sport for a week in Maui before buying my Mojave when I go back and loved both. I think the JT is really a great truck no matter the configuration. But, if you want a built up JT, the Mojave or Rubicon is really worth the extra cash.

I would go Mojave over Willys. It's a better package and the resale will be better.
Why not a Rubicon given the amount of discounts going on. My Rubicon was $9K off msrp.

if you planning on doing road trips or do a lot of highway driving Mojave might be a better choice over Willy.

Why not buy both? ;-)

you would probably start favoring one over the other, depending on the trip/task at hand.

in addition to what @Lunentucker said, the JTM hood is taller ( and the cowls are different height ).Theoretically this means that you could do a little more mods under the hood ( think AMW builds, superchargers, and engine swaps) . I suspect/hope that this will be a reason for folks to seek them out, especially mid 21 and older b/c of the PCM. If you plan to buy and trade, then you do you; if you plan to buy and keep for 20+ years and you don’t live in the rust belt, go Mojave 100%.

The Willys should have had a rear locker all along, and should have come with the Wide Dana 44 all along, but it didn’t have both back in 21 or so.. in the current day setting, I fail to see any specialized purpose that the Willys is intended for. If I ever purchased a Willys, it would be so that I could build it up to be the machine that I wanted it to be … so sure, you could lift it, regear, raise fenders, add travel or special shocks, swap axles, add winch/lights, … it’s totally up to you.

The Willys package is pretty nice , not sure if the rear locker you are talking about is the same as Rubicon and Mojave, I think it is the limited slip rear, but still good and what do you really need , sounds like you really want the new grill and 12.5" display. There is a lot to the Mojave frame not just welds and steel knuckles. The 4.10 gear ratio is nice if doing towing or larger tires. I am looking at new tires in a year about and am going narrower and just a bit taller as I love the handling and power I have now and find the wider tires not as good on snow…..Jack

it's not though. brochure says it's .2 inches taller than the rubicon. based on mojave approach/breakover/departure angles (again from the brochure) as compared to the rubicon (better/better/worse) and the height at tallest point being only .2 higher, best guess says the mojave is .5 inches taller in front and the same height in back.

While the Jeep trim comparison tool does says:
Jeep.com said:
1-Inch Front Suspension Lift
it does not say which trim it is 1 inch taller in the front than.

MOJAVE!!! Even if you want to do a small lift you can just do a spacer kit like AEV and maintain the best handling stock Jeep ride ever. 37's fit sooo good under a Mojave with no or minimal lift! The grill can be swapped if you really want the look of it up front. The screen in the 24's is nice but not as important to me as the better seats in the Mojave.

I had the same choice, chose Mojave for the 4.10's and it came with the tires I wanted out of the box.

Nicer seats, nicer wheel, cool hood.

If it wasn't for the Mojave trim my wife would have chosen the Bronco over the Willy's

Mojave all day- especially if you're daily driving it. Nothing against the Willys or any other trim but the Mojave has the best suspension from the factory of all of them.
