Why I do my own oil changes.

Went with a Lady friend to a quick oil change place.

Heard the tell-tale sign of the uggah-duggah's of an impact gun of the oil drain install.

I asked the tech, what the torque spec was on the drain bolt.

He smiled and said, "Don't worry, that's not going to come loose!"

My Lady friend smiled, and nodded, "That's why I come here, I can trust them!"

No point in further discussion.

If you want the tech to use a torque wrench, it's gonna cost more that what the local quick lube charges!

We bill 1 hour to service a 4wd vehicle that has lube fittings. Takes time to do it right with minor inspection and checking every fluid.

Never torqued a lugnut, oil drain plug, filter fuel or oil, spark plug, intake bolt, manifold bolt, head bolt, pretty much any external engine or chassis bolt ever in my life

People insisting their stupid plastic filter housing be "properly" torqued using only the finest unobtanium Snap On digital torque/angle meter while wanting to pay 29.99 for an oil change and be out in ten minutes makes me grateful daily I pursued a STEM career and left wrenching as a hobby.

I don't torque head bolts, that's typed precisely word for word how I intended it.

This truck only makes 620 rwhp, and has only been running for 8 years, so a limited test of my ability to accurately judge appropriate tq, and how much it really matters if you miss by 4-5 ft/lbs.

Need anxiety riddled forum wieners to bust out their internet slide rules and assess whether it's all "proper" or not probably.

Whatever SAE size that kinda fits the metric bolt seems to be the standard

When I am working on my Jeep, I am in my happy place. Sometimes I detail it just to relax and un wind. I have fallen asleep laying under it. I've never paid for an oil change, brake job, tire rotation, or wash. I am blessed with a body that can still do that stuff.
