Did you get a parking permit looks they are sold out for the week of 8/13, according to the website ??‍♂
I normally stop and grab one when I get into town; at the visitors center there in Corolla by the ABC store.

Are they still $50 this year?

Hello everyone I’m about to take a trip down to OBX and plan on taking the gladiator on the beach for the first time. My wheel and tire set up is 22s on 37s. From what I’ve researched is to air down to 20psi or lower, any advice for the noob. Or did I go too big on wheel size??‍♂
You went 5 inches to big on wheel size.

I’ve driven in sand dunes and beaches for 40+ years (Pismo, Dumont, Glamis, Oregon, and so on). I always aired down my TJ on 35s to 6 psi. My JT when I go will probably be in the 8-10 because of weight and the 37s. I’ve pulled dozens of people out over the years who were afraid to air down a little. If they said they weren’t going to, I’d tell them good luck and drive on. I refuse to tear up my equipment because they wouldn’t follow simple common sense.
Make sure to take a high quality tow strap like a Bubba Rope or Rhino (not from TSC or some cheap crap) and soft shackles, D rings and have solid attachment points. Just some advice even if you know this, the trailer ball mount on your receiver ain’t one of them. Look up the guy who died when the hitch broke a few weeks ago, went through the windshield, then through him, and left a mess in the back seat.
Anyway, in your case, 15 psi should be good.

If you add about another inch of wheel spacing to each side, the sand and debri may just miss most of your truck bro. Great looking jeep otherwise ?

I was told a couple of different stories about the tree stumps. That was where the middle of the island was and the trees grew there. Over the years. The wind has blown the sand back to the towards the mainland. Covers the trees at one point, then exposing what was left. Another one is when there is a hurricane, and it hits the OBX. It moves the island back and forth.
Interesting. Thanks.

The ocean always seems to take the beach, they had to move the Cape Hatteras lighthouse pretty far to save it from falling into the ocean. Pretty impressive move on sand when you look at how tall and huge it is. The Delaware Cape Henolopen light house fell into the ocean, and some of the observation towers from World War 2 are in the surf now. The trees on the beach are usually old forest taken by the ocean, shipwrecks and structures appear and disappear with storms and years.
The whole Ebb and Flow thing..Jack
That's interesting. We don't really see that on the west coast, at least not around where i'm at. The beaches erode slowly some but no real change to the coast or continuous movement. Well... there is one beach that was all sand when i was a kid, but now after hard rain (once every 3-4 years) turnes into pure rocks until they truck in sand to cover them up. I can't account for the very minimal changes with the other beaches though. Perhaps because we don't have the atlantic winds (storm/hurricane pattern winds).

I'm assuming ur 37s are 13.50 wide. You shouldn't have to air down at all. Just be careful where u park and stop.

I had 33x13.50 Baja Claws on my Tundra and could float on the sand no problem. I was trying to get stuck and couldn't, This was at Pismo in CA.
