Greetings, There just came out, as of Sept 5 2024, a new recall. #30B 2018-2024 JL & JT Instrument Panel Cluster. The IPC in the suspect vehicle may not illuminate the required telltales. FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to replace the IPC. (Parts not available). I was wondering if anyone had any insight on this issue? Safe travels everyone.

I'm not thrilled with the prospect of some poor dealer tech on flat rate ripping my JT's dash apart o replace the damn cluster, and all the associated potential fails.

What’s work?
I like the parts not available.
Let’s launch a campaign, just make sure the hardware for said campaign isn’t available.
Then of course a voluntary recall, that is akin to kinda pregnant. Either it’s an issue that should be corrected or it’s not really an issue and just leave it alone and let warranty absorb it case by case, then issue a TSB which can be found under VIN inquiry should it fail later and again deal with it case by case. Voluntary and Recall shouldn’t be associated with each other, that is what TSB are for.

Struggling with it. Is this just Jeep making zero sense or is this big brother again making senseless demands on the auto industry.

It’s actually really easy not much to it. Taking out the speaker below it is much much harder than the entire dash

In Wranglers this goes back to 2018-2024. In Gladiators its 2020-2024. Why has it taking this long for it to surface as a recall?

It's only the 3.5" display clusters that are usually found on Jeeps with the 5" infotainment system. The 7" clusters that come with the 7" and the 8.4" infotainment systems are not part of the recall.

What exactly happens? Does just the 3.5 cluster go blank or does the complete dash go blank? Does it kill the engine too?

Do you have to get it changed out if you don't have a problem, and does the recall expire at anytime?

I wish it was for the 7" also. My Rubicon just hit 20k miles and it's exactly 5 years old when the screen went black a week ago.

That's unfortunate. Does it still operate, or is the engine down as well?
