35k Miles Photos

My JT hit 35k miles. Some off roading during warm weather, have had it since late October 2019.

Gave it a good power wash underneath at a self-service place

I was surprised some parts had trail damage/scrapes, and was REALLY surprised some spots had so much rust. We just had a bunch of ice/snow so there was 2-3 weeks of salting, but I went to the automated car wash every other day and washed underneath once in 2 weeks.

Vehicle went in for an inspection and tire rotation at the dealership a couple days ago. Said all I will need is new brakes in 15k miles. They checked the diff fluid at my request.


Should I be concerned about the front pumpkin seal looking damaged?

Should the seal condition concern me here

Should I worry about this axle housing rust? Feels like an outer layer of paint got scraped off as I can feel the dept difference.

I think that looks pretty good for the miles. Especially since you actually use it off road. That differential seal is fine..

See how your sway bar appears very level? Even appears to already be pulling on the link. I’m assuming your vehicle is level here - which means they need to be adjusted upward for proper flex motion. Like this random pic I found.

No lift. Ramps should be mostly level

The rust you mention is totally normal. One the coating compromised you'll get surface rust. It happens on every vehicle.

I would not bother...spray it clean, maybe quick scrub with a brush then hit the rusty areas with this:

Also works great to protect the entire undercarriage. I use about 4-6 cans to thoroughly treat the bottom of all my new vehicles within 6 months of purchase. It dries like candle wax and contains corrosion inhibitors. Fluid Film is another common product ( I use it as well) but I try to save it for older/ditrtier vehicles as it never dries and can create an oily/stucky dust goo mess...but it does help prevent additional rust.
