I have the Gladiator Rubicon manual transmission and this shock is not on the truck. So, it seems it is only on the Sport S manuals.

Doesn't make any sense to have that shock attached to a 4 link ( 5 w/track bar) suspension, the control arms themselves prevent axle wrap.

All the Mopar dealer parts sites say they damper and bracket have been discontinued. Makes me wonder if they have stopped putting them on new recent production manual Gladiators also?

Just searched this because i just picked up a 2021 willys with the 6 speed. I was just crawling around under the truck checking everything out and noticed i have the shock from the top of my rear axle to a point on the truck. I guess its for manuals with the col springs and long rear driveshaft.

Any chance you could get pictures and part numbers? I also assumed they stopped installing these, since the parts show discontinued. I was going to see about buying and adding the pieces to my truck.

Why?
if FCA discontinued them they obviously aren’t necessary and since no one, to my knowledge, ever complained about axle wrap or wanted suggestions on some sort wrap control before this thread It would appear this is a solution in search of a problem.
it’s your money however.

Since he has a new model with it installed, I would like to know if the part numbers have changed. If it is not necessary, why are they still installing it, with the old part numbers showing discontinued?

4 link systems won't suffer "axle wrap" like leaf spring systems.
Here's one solution for leaf spring axle wrap ->
