my gut engineering sense is that it would be a useful powertrain. A bit step forward from where we are if can do 70% of lifecycle miles on free clean energy from my roof
Where I live, electricity is cheap and plentiful. We export it to other states from here.
With our JLU 4xe we can drive the first 25 miles after a charge for $1.18 in the winter, and about $1.79 in summer months when there's more demand.
Plus - it feels like driving a V8 most of the time.

"Backwards minds":
"How much is this going to cost?"... "$500M"
"How many will we sell?"..."50"
"Let's cancel it."
so lose a little money for a while, have a hero truck w developable powertrain tech And find a way to make a buck in it.

that job ain’t gonna get easier when u up end every supply line in the world for the sake of it.

not suggesting make everything in China. Improve supply lines. Change them sure.
But tip on their head? Over and over?
Give me fk@n break man.

they’re fkn children Playing w fire and this is an example of where it’ll go.

far from a moon shot aye?

Why? I'm guessing you only need work trucks or Jeeps for fun. A commuter vehicle? LOL at gasoline. I can't even imagine going back to gas for around town travel.
let me qualify that. Not that I hate em. I just hate the the direction of the design.
None of that shit is for ppl like me.

i don’t have any hate for ev’s as a concept. I hate what they make of them.
That’s why it’s so sad to see the gladdy 4xe go down in flames.

it’s the only direction I’m attracted to. That and scout. But that’ll never come here either.

I would have loved a 4xE. I'd drive the Jeep a hell of a lot more. Just makes no sense around town with the EVs in the driveway.

Yeah. What a groovy set up.
You’re not making the disappointment any better, honestly ;).
Man it’s good you can make the most. It’s really the ideal set up

yeah I can imagine. Exactly. I just can’t fkn@ believe they canned it. It was right there feels like. Surely about to announce it. And they binned it? Still in shock about it.

i just cannot believe they would shit can such an epic product without a serious financial impact turning into the mix for them. This thing was fully baked and then boom shit canned

it’s got to be a heap of change in the financial matrix bc the future cost burdens would have had to outweigh the development costs losses.

i can’t help feeling resentful about it

Yeah, Trump called up Stellantis and said "don't you dare produce an electric truck!"
It had nothing to do with them determining it lacked the profit they want.
Called? Doubtful. You mean tweeted don’t u

I don’t have anything against a lot of the ideas. I’ve got a lot against the execution thereof, the antics and personal attacks on allies

This is about the only 100% Ev direction that interests me.

Now that 4xe glady is dead I might just have to turn one of my old Jeeps into something like this.

good to see some normal Australians on the internet for once. No cutoff sleeve cowboy hat loud mouth try hard red necks for once

If more people felt like you, they wouldn’t have canned it. Most people don’t care it’s not happening.

It wasn't right there, it didn't work lol.

This is why the internet is wonderful and people live in fear of Tylenol. Everyone get's a voice and any bit of sense get's lost behind a cacophony of random gibberish.

According to our cluster display of energy use and output/input and so on, you are always using the electric to supplement the engine. There's always power going out from the HV battery to the electric drive motor. You aren't really ever 100% ICE only
This is exactly how it works lol.

It's why the 4xE has significantly different power ratings than a 2.0T Jeep.

Drives my wife nuts as she likes to see certain things in the center and in the cluster in front of her and I'm always switching the 4xe over to view the power utilization and flow - in parts because it's a learning things - what's it do under these different conditions? - and part because I just like gauges and such.
Seeing that thing in enough different conditions you soon learn exactly what is flowing to and from where under varied conditions.
And then there's the "real world examples" I have -
We took my JT to Florida - every trip down there we take the same path, the same highways.
In certain spots in the mountains you could count on the JT downshifting 2 or maybe 3 gears and the RPM jumping to make the grades. You got used to it and knew exactly what was going to happen and when.
Then we take the 4xe down the following year - we hit those same areas - does not downshift at all, or if it does, maybe 1 gear and it's hardly working making the grades.
The lack of downshifting and smooth, lower RPM power - that says it all.
There was also almost aways power from the battery/electric drive motor and the ICE.
On the flats where you haven't done much braking or gone down any hills, it will use the ICE and it will recharge the HV - but gee, you are cruising on a flat, there's no need for the HP to keep a moving object moving at the same speed and direction. No HP is needed to cruise at a stead speed on flat ground. So that's where you get the HV batteries recharged and it will be working on the ICE. But need any power for passing or the next hill, and it's ready to go with ease.

You drive one for almost 24 hours straight and you get to know that vehicle pretty well, and know exactly how it operates. And I find the internet is full of shit for the most part on the 4xe. Parroting what someone has told them, never having owned one or driven one for more than a few days.........

To be fair, I never drove one for more than a few days lol.

It was just full of data recorders and test gear when I did it lol. I don't miss Chelsea, and definitely don't miss AZ.

The neat thing is - these tell even the ordinary owner/driver what's going on if you know where to look.
JSCAN will give you a ton of info as well, including when and how the t-case clutches apply, and more.
You know the drill - sort of a been there, done that thing, in your case.
