Swap "preferred" and replace with "illegal."Somebody needs to simmer down. Sure it is preferred that ppl don’t do this sorta thing but geez man, don’t you have anything positive that you can focus all this energy on? Maybe take all the wasted time to plan another outing with your kids instead of being full karen and showing them this behaviour
Ummmmm, what?As a CWP holder, I am required by SC law to intervene. Think unpaid constabulary.
Trying to figure out who needs to simmer down?! You didn't reply to anyone in particular. It's obviously a sore subject with a lot of us. Me personally. My kids are grown and gone. Got plenty of time on my hands. Positive stuff to focus on? Yeah gotta take out the trash, recycling, wash the Gladiator, drink my second cup of coffee. Maybe not in that order.Somebody needs to simmer down. Sure it is preferred that ppl don’t do this sorta thing but geez man, don’t you have anything positive that you can focus all this energy on? As well as leave it better than you found it"What part of 'leave no trace' do you not understand?"
I posted to my IG w/ handful of hashtags.
Agreed that this could easily be taken too far involving children and their names but the reality is that the adult that did the lovely artwork did so for personal and possibly monetary gain.I agree without doubt that the lovely ppl that left trace purposely shouldn’t have done so. However stalking ppl online and bringing up children could be perceived in a negative way.
Honestly, this is probably the real explanationI agree with you guys, but can't some of this stem from sheer ignorance? They see other people "signed the rock" and wanted to do the same thing?
I don't do social media, but you can probably tell by looking at their pages if they are prolific graffiti artists or made a careless mistake without thinking about the gravity of it.
I don't have Instagram but can you contact them directly from their page like with other social media? Perhaps leave a message saying you are very upset, tell them you're reporting it and see how they react. Humble and admitting a mistake or doubling down on defacing public land. Maybe they could donate to a charity that removes graffiti in the area. Probably even make a tick tock about in yet another attempt to get internet famous.
Just my 2 cents. I know people are stupid but mostly that is our default state and not an intentional way of life.
Depends what the gas prices they're advertising are!Agreed that this could easily be taken too far involving children and their names but the reality is that the adult that did the lovely artwork did so for personal and possibly monetary gain.
Imagine looking at the lovely petroglyphs and seeing an advertisement for the local gas station scrawled on the rocks. No different in my eyes.
That would be a possibility. His Instagram page does show that he was on that trail, so it seems like a less likely possibility. Most likely explanation is somebody wanted more followers on Instagram and made a stupid decision, much like tacomabeast did a few years ago.I'll start this out with.....I'm not on IG.
But, if no one saw him write it, is there a chance someone else wrote it to cause the guy issues? If so, it wouldn't be the first time someone impersonated another person to cause them grief.
It would suck if everyone jumped to their conclusions if that is what actually happened.
We didn't bring kids into it; the dumbass who defaced public lands - and taught his kids to do as well - illegally did.I agree without doubt that the lovely ppl that left trace purposely shouldn’t have done so. However stalking ppl online and bringing up children could be perceived in a negative way.
