That's odd - I always thought Jay was one of the most accommodating level-headed admins I've ever seen. Rarely does he ever kill anything that doesn't need killing (really badly needs killing)
He's let stuff live that may not survive other places.

As far as German - there's a lot of Jeep stuff that was originally created for Mercedes........ even the Grand Cherokee key fob was identical to the fob used by Mercedes, the front suspension and steering on WK2 had a lot of stuff that came from Mercedes.
Is there anything car-related that you DON'T know?!

Oh hell yes!

As far as the Mercedes/Jeep stuff, they were sister companies for a while (Daimler-Chrysler) and a friend works as a Mercedes tech by DC........... we used to go to the same AMC events and drag races. He's a Jeep and AMC guy and we talked a lot about the technology of Mercedes (of course he had his own Mercedes there a couple of years)

From what I understand, Daimler also benefitted GREATLY (meaning took for themselves) a lot from the Jeep line in that their 4x4s took a lot of the tech that was used in the Wranglers, Cherokees, and Grand Cherokees...including body strength design from the GC.

Daimler came in to a cash-flush Chrysler, took all their tech, torched through the money, and left.

Edit: ok, I don't really have a source for this, other than I think I read something to this effect once on allpar or mopar insiders

I get what he is saying I have seen the biased moderating and the ultimate lack whit joke responses when some one asks a serious question. But there are a lot of helpful cool people on the board to make up for the miata drivers on here.

I'm going with he/she (see how accommodating I am) is the 1st "zero emissions " person to put their money where their mouth is. You other green preachers should rid the planet of your gas guzzling gladiators as well (at a reduced rate to me of course). In advance, lighten up Francis.

The NSG370 6 speed manual used in TJs and JKs is a Mercedes trans.

And don’t forget the 6 speed they used in the 2005-2006 TJ (god I miss mine) that was made by BMW!
