Admit it. Now that you own a JT, JKU's aren't necessary!

I do wish there were more removable panels on the hard top though. If I could remove the back part of the roof too, that would be awesome. Or the back section instead would work too.
I've been saying this forever. Why hasn't the Unlimited hard top ever had 4 Freedom Panels? It would be super convenient to just leave the back section and have the seating compartment open air. Would also make removing the entire top a lot easier. Someone who has FCAs ear needs to ask why this hasn't been done, I know lots of people must have had the thought.

It's a joke, man...pickin' up on some angry tone....please do relax.

The meaning is that in 16 years, as hard as I tried, I got my YJ stuck once. I wheeled it everywhere and thru everything--from San Diego to Minneapolis, down to Jax, FL and over every kind of terrain. Snow, mud, sand, water and mud again...didnt matter. I'd put the spurs to that YJ and it would go wherever I pointed it.

Just like my last rental car.
Completely relaxed. I just wanted to know what you meant. How would anyone know unless they knew what you rented?

An excellent point, sir! My comment did indeed leave something to wonder and I apologize for not being clear.

I suppose I was just suggesting any rental car I've had has been fair game....anything will fly if you put enough thrust behind it.

Well, just going by the title.... the JKU is gone anyway, so it’s a moot point.
the JLU and JT are comparable, but different. If you need an open bed... get a JT.... if you need enclosed storage, get a JLU or put a topper on the JT.....it basically falls on wheelbase and towing capacity.
I’ve owned both..... that’s the main difference.... figure out your needs and go from there.

Apparently the new Bronco has this, some article I read was talking with one of the designers - he had a Wrangler and found it so difficult to remove the hardtop due to its size. So by having the middle section panels removable, also makes the rear smaller section easier to remove.
Pretty smart IMO

With the bronco, and the hummer confirmed to also have this feature I wouldn't be supprised if the JL/JT generation ends up being one of the shorter lived ones. FCA is going to have to inovate to keep from losing marketshare. Ford is really making a direct attack and fixing a lot of the issues with the Jeep pretty agressivly. Sasquatch package give Rubicon features on all trims. Mirrors are not mounted on the doors (WTF on this one FCA). Roof looks like it will be easier as you mentioned. Marine grade interior for the seats and floor. I think there is even a way to store the doors in the trunk.

I wouldn't be supprised if the next gen of jeep is a 2023 model year so they have some time to combat this.

Well I still own my JKUR and it'll wheel a lot better than my JTR (and yours)...so there's that.

Plus, 2dr Jeeps suck. They're the worst of Jeeps now. They look horrid, they wheel horrid (footprint is not only bad but dangerous at times) and they have no space. Just leave those for HS girls.
Really? I’d still go with a 2 door if I was going to have a wheeling-only toy as opposed to a DD/family hauler toy

Bronco has half doors with a frameless window....but the Jeep doors have a frame on top. THIS Is why they never moved the mirrors to the A-pillar. either the mirror has to stick out really far, or you can’t see it because the frame of the window blocks the mirror (at least on the passenger side). the Half doors on the JKU could be stored in the back, like on the Bronco, but full doors would never fit. Jeep needs to release the half doors for the JL/JT.

regarding the roof...it looked like the Bronco has 3 pieces still, but one covers the front, one the middle, and the last covers cargo. I could be wrong, but dont think it was a 5 piece top.

I WOULD purchase a Club Cab with 6 ft. bed in a Gladiator or Bronco, sadly I don't think it will happen (hope I'm wrong). The 4-door pickup with useless bed length is here to stay, you see fewer and fewer Club Cab and regular cab new pickups now.
Again...useless for you.

Makes sense, so I see this as they should only offer the JL/JT with half doors with frameless windows, lol. Would have worked great for me.

JKUs still have their market. Most people don't really need a truck. In my family we have a 2-door, a 4-door (both JKs) and the JT. In the past month we've taken all three through Black Bear Pass, Imogene, Engineer, and the rest. The wheelbase on the JT is significant. The switchbacks on Black Bear are no joke and some of them were interesting with the JT.

Also the JT is going to be an overlanding rig for us. The JKs are rock crawlers. We will take them back to Moab when we can, but we wouldn't run the JT at Moab.
