Air Conditioning

Every time I start my JT, the air conditioning is ON, regardless of whether I had it ON the prior trip or not. The only way I have figured out how to prevent this is to set the fan to off. Is this supposed to happen? Or is there a way to have it remember the prior setting or default to off?

Mine comes on depending on temp in the auto setting, If its warmer then 71 in my truck the ac kicks on.. If its colder then that the heat does. If I have the top off & the AC doesnt matter then I turn everything off of course.

Not sure if that address's what you have going on or not.

That helps narrow it down. You have a Sport S? I have a Sport, which does not have an auto temp function. Mine is purely old school - a/c is either on or off and the temp dial ranges from blue to red. So now I am guessing that the issue is only related to the Sport.

ahhh that makes sense. I would think it should be remembering the last setting which is weird that its not.

I have a sport s with manual climate control as well...mine doesn't do that

I got Regular sport and mine doesn't do that. If I turn it off then it's off. I normally always turn it and the radio all the way off when I park it.

Likely, the dealer would charge you $380 to "Check it out", then say, "We don't know".

Check the settings area. There may be a toggle set to keep the A/C always on, or something.

Yeah, probably. Grr.

I haven't found a setting ... still looking.

I recommend cleaning your air conditioner at least once every couple of months.

So, fwiw, the dealer said that this is a feature not a bug, that the a/c is supposed to turn on each time the engine starts. Which of course made me ask why it then sometimes it doesn't. No answer.

I've decided to live with it. There are bigger problems in life. And this way we get to have a wager each time we get in the jeep ... will the a/c be on or off! It's a penny a point and my daughter says she's up 10 cents and would like to get paid. We haven't kept count and have to trust her.

Mine is doing just like bastage said. If it's warmer than 71 in my truck, the a/c kicks on instantly. Just try to set it on auto, and maybe everything is going to be okay. However, my a/c is running almost the entire trip, so I had to clean the filters when I get home. As you understood, I also have to change the a/c filters at least once per month. Moreover, sometimes I call for the guys from airconservicingsingapore.com as they have some tremendous chemical overhaul service for any kind of air conditioner, which is fantastic.

I have a sport and if you turn the dial all the way to cold, the AC is always on. Turn it one click from full cold, make sure the AC is off, and the next time you start it won't come on automatically

All the way cold turns on "max ac" , which is basically just ac on recirc. But yea that will always turn the compressor on
