So here is my dilemma. Ordering tires and wheels today for my JTR. Installing a Rock Krawler 3.0 Pro-x lift and going with 37s.
My dilemma is do I go with Falken Wildpeak AT3w or Cooper Discover STT Pros. I have a lot of experience with both. My '08 JKU is on its 3rd set of STT Pros in the 37" size. I have several sets of Falken Wildpeak AT3w running on other trucks in my family. My son is running Falken in the 35" size on his F150 and my other son has them in the 31" size on his Jeep Liberty and they run and drive beautifully.
Practicality says go with the more road friendly as my JKU is my main offroad rig.

What do you all think

I am currently using the Falken Wildpeaks, but I am currently driving on pavement 95% time. What type of driving are you planning on doing?

Like most....will be 95% or better on road. Even my JKU is 95% or better on road. Just a tough decision...the STT Pros ride very nice. Sure the Falkens would be better but the STTs definitely look much better....lol

I couldn't decide either, so I went with a XT! Best of both worlds! Specifically, I went with the Yokohama X-AT. The great features of a mud tire, but without the noise and harshness.

Just checked them out. They are pretty equivalent to the Falkens in weight, tread depth, etc. Thanks for the suggestion

I’m sold on Nitto Ridge Grapplers being a hybrid. Want the looks of an MT but the ride and noise of the AT. Hope they suit what I am wanting. Just my $0.02

Why not the Falken Wildpeak M/T?
I have no experience with them. I've had great experience with the AT3Ws, so I'm sure the MT would be a good choice. I've had a lot of experience with the STT Pro, none negative so I basically figured as long as they are still available...that is my MT of choice

The pictures online don't do these tires justice. The tread void is huge and they really are a cross between a mud terrain and an all-terrain. They've got 19/32 of tread, stone ejectors, sipes and serrations for foul weather, etc. Should be the perfect tire. I was really on the fence about buying these because they look so mild on the Internet but once I got them in person they have really grown on me.

Have you considered the Cooper ST Maxx? Perfect middle ground. I have had good experiences with them. The only reason they’re not on my JT is there isn’t a three peak snowflake rating.

I considered those. But what turned me off is that the prices have gone up $100 per tire on those in recent years. It's now a very over-priced tire. A 35 in those generally runs well over $300 each now. It's ridiculous. None of those Cooper tires that have been on the market for a decade or longer should cost that much.

They last a looong time and are a nice middle ground, but yes expensive. But for some extra money they will outlast the STT Pro tires.. I see it as a pay up front thing. Good luck with whatever you end up choosing!

I bought my first set of Cooper STTs in 2006 on an H2. They lasted over 70K miles and still had almost half of their tread depth remaining. It performed better on and off road than all of the countless tires I have had before or since. Just bought two new sets for two different vehicles. On my 35x17s, they have 21/32" of tread. By comparison the BFGs KO2s have 15/32" of tread. So, the STTs start out with 40% more tread. They weigh more than some, but have bombproof sidewalls. Best grip of any tire I ever have owned.
