I never brought this up here about me buying wheels that would not fit. I felt like an ass when I took them in to have tires put on and was told. To the credit of my dealer, the guy knew by looking at them as soon as I handed them to him. They have been selling Jeeps for years and I'm the newbee with my fist Jeep. I assumed everyone here knew thus me not saying anything. The things that I did check was the wheel size, rim width and offset and they were the same as my original wheels.

Ouch! That can’t be a good feeling watching your wheel roll down the road without you!

Ditto here, 3.5K miles. Installed and torqued them myself. Really would love some verification that stock JK wheels are bad for the JT.
I think the issue is the stud size. Everyone keeps saying "lugs" but I assume they mean "lug nuts". The wheel from a JK is 5x5 just like the JT, as long as you use the lug nuts from the JT it shouldn't be an issue.

The only thing about the JK wheels I have found is the backspacing is small which let's the tire rub against the inner fenders at full flex and there is maybe 3/8" between the wheel and the caliper. It doesn't hit but it is close.

I believe the JT lug nuts are too wide and it doesn't allow the entire 60° conial to seat on the JK rim

Maybe, but like I said, I'm 4k miles in with no issues. Stock JK wheels and stock JT lug nuts put on with a torque wrench.

The JK lugs are 1/2ā€ and the JT has 14 mm - just a bit bigger.

Easier to say lugs - and that's a common practice.
It doesn't help when the web sites people commonly use have a statement like this - and this is a QUOTE -
NEED NEW LUGS WITH YOUR WHEEL PURCHASE? TIRE RACK KNOWS!

I use wheel nuts or lug nuts when I say it - because - there are lug BOLTS, too.

Technically speaking -
Wheel studs are the threaded fasteners that hold on the wheels of many automobiles. They are semi-permanently mounted directly to the vehicle hub, usually through the brake drum or brake disk. Lug nuts are fastened onto the wheel stud to secure the wheel.

Most likely ignorance.

Exactly my point.

I know what they mean when they write lugs but someone new to this may not. Correct nomenclature should be a priority in this setting. If you don't know what something is just ask. Giving incorrect information doesn't help the novice, they just go from uninformed to misinformed and sometimes that is worse.

So as some of you know my wife lady took my truck on a road trip to Kansas. About a 2,000 mile round trip. Right before she left I had the dealer do a oil change and rotate the tires. She came home a day earlier than expected so I took my truck to work this morning. As I drove down the road I could hear a slight clunking noise and I was only getting 13MPG. The noise got worse the longer I drove. When I got home from work I pulled the center cap off of my rear passenger and noticed that a lug nut was not sitting centered in the hole.

I rocked the wheel back and forth and could hear the clunking sound and see that the wheel was loose. I then jacked it up and the wheel was as loose as a 10 year olds tooth. It is sitting at my mechanics shop to be looked at in the morning. I hope he can diagnose the problem.

The wheels are off of my JK and the dealer swapped them out for me when I picked up my truck and tradded in my JK. They had to go to NAPA and pick up some lug nuts I guess the factory nuts would not fit with the wheels. They also mentioned that the hub size of the JT is a bit smaller than the JK.

I put 5,600 miles on the truck before my oil change and tire rotation with no issues. Do you think it was the dealers fault with installation of the wheel or that the wheels are the wrong size for the JT? Either way I am glad my wife lady is home safe:whew:

I bought four winter tires for my JT before winter and have it installed on my JK old original mag wheels and my son installed it on my JT , torqued it with our own , test drove it for a few kilometers , torqued it again , so far I have no issues.
