I'd imagine that's the main reason but the other is that it's the only Alpine with Maestro integration that is shallow-depth mounting to fit in the dash. The older unit like it is a great little head unit but the lack of integration kills it for a lot of people.
This is also true. I found limited options for one-and-done solutions that integrate this well, granted I don't keep up with this stuff like I used to.

It's crazy to me how many media-only head units are still nearly full depth double DIN. I'd get it if you were leaving it single but there's like 7 head units out there that fit the Jeep and it's kind of annoying.

"Customizing your Jeep with winches, light bars, air suspension and more can clutter your dash with switches and confuse your controls. The X409-WRA-JL is compatible with the KAC-001 External Accessory Controller (sold separately) and can host and monitor up to eight electrical devices on the 9-inch touch screen."

I mean, this part is actually kinda cool for those who either don't have the factory aux switches and/or need more and/or don't want physical switches...except...

"This product has a maximum negative trigger output of 250mA. An automotive
grade Bosch-style 12V relay may be necessary for higher current accessories."

So...pretty much everything you listed...or literally anything at all? Can't think of any <1A accessories.

Only thing I really wish this unit had is the ability to download any apps like the Insane Audio. I would love to install the DJI Fly app for my drone and see if I could plug the controller into the media hub and use the head unit's screen for the flight display instead of my phone. I think that would be super cool.

Yeah the problem is they're all just switched relay inputs. I've got a hunch someone paying that kind of coin for a ready to go solution isn't the type to build a relay pack themselves so tack on $200-800 to actually use that functionality.

I was interested until I found out the following
OEM Front trail cam does not integrated with it.
If you have the above the rear Camera will also not work either. as its a different system than just having The standard Back up camera. This is a major oversight and lazy to be honest and should be fixed for this kind of money.

I owned the JKU version and loved it but its not happening for me unless Alpine or someone else figures out a way to use the Front Trail Cam system w/ Rear Camera

But, it's not new. Amazon says it's been available since November 2019. The only review is a one star from January 2020.
Hey it's got 7 reviews now so they upped the price to $3200!

Jeep Gladiator Alpine's New Jeep Specific 9 Inch New Price Point

(in the interest of fairness, I did round up 5 cents - don't think it really matters at this price point)

Yes, Alpine, We're "Jeep people" and yes we do spend STUPID amounts of money on our Jeeps. But $2400 for a f*cking radio? That's just abusive.
And a few short months later it's showing at $3,200...

It looks cool and would be nice to upgrade my base unit, but H E Double Hockey Sticks No for that cash.

You can add LOCKERS for that kind of cash!

Big HELL NO from me as well, I thought the Stinger unit was pricey at $1400.

I just don't understand what the hell people spend their money on. These units are destined for the SEMA 24" wheeled neon-undercarriaged sh^t wagons.

Heck even the $1,400 Stinger is a bunch for it. For 2 grand the Carobotor J-Max unit looks cheap compared to some of the units out. I will probably be sticking with my 7" for a while till costs get under control.
