So, I've done a feature walk through, just in case you have 24 minutes time and need some inspiration on how to spend even more money ...

Looking for a Aluminum folding? receiver step. I've replaced my Rubicon bumper with a Relentless Off-Road Fabrication bumper. Any suggestions that don't break the bank. Right now I'm using a Werner Pro Platform. It also serves double duty as a kitchen table etc.

I wired in the lights to the backup circuit. The receiver is under the flip up license plate

Hey Steven, did you sell the JT yet?

If not, we should get out and do some camping and put that thing to use!
Not sold yet. And since I have been laid off, I do have a lot of time on my hands :angry:

Anyone DIY the Alu-Cab fitted water tank install?

I skipped the water tank when I got the ACCC 3+ years ago, and been managing with a bunch of 20L Scepter water cans. Decided to get the water tank with black friday discount, and it's ready to install. Plumbing question for anyone here

I see the brass fittings in the tank are probably 1/2-BSP (British Standard Pipe - the included block-off plugs are labeled such, and BSP would be normal in South Africa). Everything here in the US is NPT (national pipe thread) and I see for most sizes, NPT and BSP are different enough to be incompatible (pitch, thread angle, thread shape).

However in 1/2" they both seem to have pitch 14 TPI. 1/2-NPT might thread in well enough to seal with some tape or putty. I need to install a bunch of accessories and it would be convenient to stick to sizes common in the US. Or is it worth finding 1/2-BPT to 1/2-NPT adapters and do it right? Thanks

I installed the water tank myself. I used a 1/2 NPT shutoff valve picked up at a local (US) hardware store along with some teflon tape and it has been fine and leak free for 3 years. It never even occurred to me that there could be a different thread on the tank's fittings. 😅

It's been some time since I did this, but I don't recall any excessive play or resistance that would have made me wonder if the fitting size was correct. Is there any possibility that there is a different tank SKU for different markets and the pressed in fittings being market specific?

Not impressed with the included hardware for the water tank kit. Everything drives on fine the first time, but on trying to remove a few fasteners the nylocks seize on the A2-70 threads, then break the shank. After several test fits and removals, I’ve broken two, and completely stripped the threads off a third.

Stainless has its place, but this does not seem to be it. I think I will break them all out, and replace with stronger and more lubricious 10.9 and my own nylocks as I don’t trust these at all now. I feel for anyone that has to remove theirs; good luck.

Had to look up the charts:

A2-70 (18-8 SST) minimum yield stress is 450 MPa, basically the same as ungraded steel
8.8 650 MPa
10.9 940 MPa

and the surface interaction between the 18-8 and whatever the nylock nuts are is basically cold-welding them in place.

I will not use stainless fasteners and nylock nuts for anything above 1/4" diameter. I have had way too many bolts seize in larger sizes. The larger the diameter the worse it gets. They really like to gall when used with nylocks and the reason is unclear. I now only use thread locker or spring washers for SS fasteners in all sizes above 1/4"
