hi all. i just got one of these.

love the looks, love the weight. price was not terrible considering the options.

question for those that drive on rough roads.. does this thing shimmy side to side for anyone else, or just me? when i hit a bump in the road i can look in my rear view and watch the camper shell flex and bounce side to side. it’s secure at the mounting points on the bed rails, but it’s like the lightweight and aluminum construction allows it to wobble and flex over bumps. i can feel the resonance from it as it bounces and then settles down in the cab and steering wheel.

i can’t imagine strapping 200lbs of RTT to
this thing up high. that seems like it would only exacerbate the issue.

Sorry but I can't say that I've ever had an issue. I had a LOT of things bolted to my Contour and I've bombed it down a bunch of washboard roads during my ownership. I actually loosened load bar tent bolts but never the Contour mounts. Check your trail rails in the bed or possibly you bed bolts to the frame. The AluCab has always been rock solid!

Been solid here too, and I've had some overly enthusiastic runs. I've even bottomed out my suspension, accidentally of course. That's with tent, awning and restroom cube mounted on the outside, stove, traction boards, cabinet and power distribution switch box mounted on the inside.

I have a ikamper xcover 2.0 on mine. And it’s solid. Went wheeling in November with it and it did fine.

weird. i’ve got teraflex rails, all bolts are tight. i can grab the corner of the shell and rock the whole truck with it and it feels pretty solid.. but obviously road and driving forces are going to be much stronger than me.

i’ll have to see if i can get a video of it as im driving.

so here’s a video i took. this is driving on pavement. watch the leading edge of the cap in reference to the oem hardtop and watch how much it bounces around.

I too was trying to watch the bed gap instead of the topper and it appears that the "flex" coming from the bed matches the flex of the cap. everything looks solid IMO. They are moving as one unit.

It does jiggle a bit doesnt it? I played it at 1/4 speed and I did not see it shake independently of the bed though.

Could be worse ..

I sold my 21 for the JT. The later models were much better, still, long frames.

installed a bed rug, some rivnuts into the bed and some L track on top of the carpet.. mocked up where i want my ecoflow power station to be and installed some extra lighting..

next up is finding a good spot for the fridge (won’t be on a slide).

i’ve also got some shorter eye bolts for the roof that i’m going to replace those long ones with.

anyone drive around with the fridge mounted full time? i’ll probably pull the power station when i don’t need it in there, but i really don’t want to pull the fridge. i’ve got the carpet floor and i ordered some foam vibration dampening blocks from amazon for the fridge and power station to sit on, but im still worried about vibrations over time. anyone have any issues with that?

I read the contour comes standard with windows on the sides. Is that not correct? Also, where are yall finding the best price on these?

I've run a fridge in my JT bed for the past 3 years on a TON of washboard throughout CO and UT. No issues here. My ARB 63QT came with rubber padded feet, but when I mount anything of size or weight to either my bed floor or my previous Rebel Off Road rack, I use these... I can't tell you how often I find myself grabbing a few rubber "feet" for various projects outside of the Jeep world too.
