Hi all, I just purchased a contour canopy (with windows) for my Gladiator. Should be installed by the end of the month.

I was looking at some of the accessories, primarily the cupboards and kitchen stuff, along with the 270 Shadow Awning, and had a few questions that hopefully you all can help with. Thanks in advance for any tips/comments.

Something I noticed on the Molle Plate for the 1250 Cupboard is that it says it's not compatible with the Jeep Gladiator, but I don't see any mention of the 1250 Cupboard not being compatible.
  • Can anybody confirm that the 1250mm cupboard fits in the Gladiator bed or I'd have to size down to the 750mm cupboard?
  • If the 1250mm cupboard is installed, are there any air gaps to the rest of the bed? I'll be traveling with two dogs/Ruffland crates (one XL and one Medium) and would like to keep at least the cab window and one or two of the side windows open. So I'm just curious if there is an airgap that'd make it worthwhile to keep the cupboard side window open or it'd serve no purpose.
Regarding cooking/kitchen stuff:
  • Does anybody have opinions on preference of the Contour Canopy Kitchen Table vs Side Slide Prep Table? I like that at least the built-in table has a place to store and extra width with the bamboo instead of me having to keep the side slide prep table inside the cab somewhere.
  • I have a pretty nice roll-top table from REI, but was interested in the similar dimensioned ALU Table and the available canopy table bracket just for the ease of deployment/foldout legs. Anybody have this and have issues with storage/usage?
Awning
  • I know the Shadow 270 Awning is pricey, but I love the ability to just quickly fold it out and not have to deal with any legs or tie downs or whatnot (it was a pain with my old Roofnest awning/RTT). I figure I'll get a lot more usage out of it and seems like everybody praises its strength and quality. Is there anybody that absolutely hates it?
Tie Down Cleats
  • I have the 4 tie down rail bed cleats that came with my Jeep. Once the canopy is installed, it seems like I will have very limited usage of these (either fixed between the mounting clamps of the canopy or on the cab side bed rails). Is there some alternative or something I can do to these cleats to remove/relocate them without having to slide them to the cab side of the bed rails? I will be needing tie down points in the bed (ideally more than the 4 at the base) to help with securing the dog crates.

Put some molle panels in. Took some caliraisedled aluminum plates, alu. Spacers, and 1/4-20 SS bolts. Made a security plate for the back window and side door plates. Waiting on some alu. Pieces to bolt to the security plate to completely attach it to the door.
Do you have a link for the panel you used? Does the door flex with the extra weight?

Hi All - looking into getting a contour topper for my truck very soon. Anyone know of a work around to open/close latches from inside of bed?

Hey Everyone
I bought a alu cab contour canopy, for Jeep Gladiator and have a built right industries trail rail system. While installing the clamps and back plate on the rail system, I saw the clamps does not sit between the rails like the Oem one. Has any one faced the same and can you help me solve it?

I am attaching the pictures of current setup. Any help will be really appreciated

I tried lubing the locks on my canopy camper and contour canopy to no avail. One lock works great, the others are tough to get the key in and out.

I bought the six pack of locks, but may only replace the drivers side and rear locks in case there is ever a problem. Those are the two doors I open the most anyways.
After about a month a fussing with the non-cooperative locks, the tiniest little spritz I could manage of this stuff into each lock using the straw, and then working in with the key a few times has made my locks buttery smooth and easy to operate, and I don't think any reapplication will be needed for a long time (5 months and lots of dirt road since, and still working as nice as the day I applied the lube). Note that Super Lube is basically teflon in liquid suspension, so it's quite different from WD-40 or other products that come in a similar-looking can.

Your supposed to use the shims to elevate the top. You do not want the seal crushed but just enough contact to seal it.

I finally got so frustrated I beat the heck out of the door. That will teach those pesky locks.

Ok, maybe I actually backed into the garage with the side door open.
Cant believe they put such crappy locks on what is supposed to be a premium product.

Thanks for your reply But if I put the Shims then the back plate comes out of the built right industries trail rail system. Is there a way to fix that 🤔?

Replacement side doors are $850. I bent it back into shape so it will close and latch, I will work on it more this weekend. I am going to hold off on replacing it and see how much it bugs me over the next month.

It sounds like the back plate is not big enough for the rail system you have. Have you tried the back plate on a stock setup to see if it fits?

You need to come up with a good story to explain the damage.

I was wheeling a double black and came up to a group of Toyotas going the opposite direction. Since they were going downhill and could not back up since they were barely making it down, I had to backup almost 1/4 mile To a clearing. I had the side windows open so my pet lyger could get some fresh air and I snagged a tree. The good thing that came of this is that a sloth fell out of the tree and my lyger ate it. Free lunch.
