I don't have a hi lift jack but if I did, I would keep it handy mounted to the wall of my garage. I keep my trail tools in a heavy canvas zippered tool bag. Easy to pack.

just out of curiosity what have you used that farm jack for?
ive only seen one used 1 time in person in 20 years of wheeling and it was a failed attempt as a come along substitute
I use mine as more of a farm tool than offroad recovery device. Its great for pulling fence post, jacking up fallen trailer hitches, come along (if done right), and taking up garage space. TBH i would only take this on a recovery, If I knew a 1/2 ton pickup or larger was really stuck. But in use on a personal vehicle, you need frame mounted HD sliders and a d ring on every corner, and even then its not your first choice. On IFS vehicles Its almost useless.

I carry 2 bottle jacks 24/7 and a pro eagle anytime I intentionally go off road
That sounds a lot heavier and a triple threat if that shit ever goes flying. But definitely far more useful in a lot cases as well.

..another derailed thread.

I like your ammo can solution. Cost effective and practical.
Hard to read on my phone - Is it a .50 cal can?
I have been planning to attach a couple on the unistrut rails, under my Diamondback Cover. It's been over a year and I never got around to it. Hope this motivates me to get it done.

Bottle jacks and bottles of Jack... both handy in a pinch.
bottle jack fails just toss the cap away on the jack and a jacked up situation is all better.

Oh absolutely.
in the new setup the jacks will be strapped inside a toolbox and the roller pinned into my gear plate in the bed

These are great options but they certainly cost a lot more than my method. My method cost almost nothing as I already had the unistrut rails mounted, add a few nuts and 8 inches of unistrut and Bobs your uncle.
I get it, my method is not as clean as having a molle system, but I like homemade stuff.
Not dogging your idea I like it. I was adding to your idea if that is ok? Molle panel would let you move it around very easy. Cost is always a concern and your way works and its simple.

I do have a short length of cable locking it to the cargo tie-down. its on the end you can't see in the pick.
For a lock on ammo can here's a easy way.
Jeep Gladiator Ammo box bed toolbox project 20240803_011657

On High-Lift jacks, I have 2 functional ones. 1 stays in my LJ mounted between roll bars in back. The other is the the 60in one in a jack box that was always on my XJ. Heavy S.O.B. but I've used both for so many different jobs besides jacking up a vehicle. The handle has been used to sleeve steering linkage to get me home even. As a hand winch to recover a stuck 4wheeler in a swamp "then broken" the OEM Warn winch failed. Operator ignorance in winch use. "Mostly"
My first High-Lift failed when new as I tested it out, the climbing leg was bad casting. Do I recommend a High-Lift jack? Not to anyone who doesn't spend the time to know how to use them and take care of it.

That's a nice mod. I have a low-profile Milwaukee storage bin that I bought from Home Depot for storing jumper cables, tools, a small air compressor, first aid kit, sun screen, bug spray, you know. The essentials. It has a thick gasket so is waterproof.

I like that yours is fixed to the body; mine is loose but I do have a tonneau cover.
