Here is a quote I got on a 2020 Rubicon at the beginning of the pandemic that I still kick myself for not moving. You’re really making too many assumptions. It was going to be like $46k otd. With that reasoning, I’m sure a sport s could have been had for less.

An equally equipped JT today has an MSRP of nearly 60k. It is very likely you could have bought a JT in 2020 and it be worth more today.

I'm not going to argue about it but a Sport S isn't going to be worth more than $35,000 today with 37,000 to 40,000 miles on it. Unless you got a once in a lifetime deal on a Sport S then you paid at least $40,000 for one in 2020. Now a Base Sport could of been bought for less than that, I paid $37,100 out the door for my Base Sport in February 2020. I'm not making assumptions I'm just saying there is a greater chance that it's worth less now than it was in 2020. Probably more than likely it is.

I was offered $40,000 for mine when I was at the dealership but that was keeping the bumpers, lift, tires etc on mine. They have been interested in it for a while. That was with 54,000 miles on it. They could probably list it $45,000 and sell it because some people like to buy things already lifted and Hendricks likes to buy stuff already done up.

If I could have gotten a Rubicon for 43k, I’m sure Sport S’ were had for less than 40k if purchased through the right dealership with the right incentives. NADA has the trade in guesstimate between 32-37k. For a truck with 40k miles on it, which is an assumption as it could be less or more.

I don’t know what you’re “not arguing about”. You probably wouldn’t make money and with inflation, if you’re totaling your truck and needing to buy new you’re losing your ass on it anyways with inflation on everything but wages.

Judging solely off of your pics, it shouldn't be totaled. Wife's JLUR just got totaled with WAY more damage. Front axle & front drive shaft broken, not to mention all the front body parts (fenders, grill, hood...) Repairs added up to $32,000 before assessing the frame damage. They had limited it up to $35,000. Came out ok totaling it as I found one almost identical for just over what the insurance paid us.

Glad you made it out with only minor injuries.

I got my 2020 Sport S for ~38k (stickered $41,835) in June of 2020 and while that's less than MSRP it's certainly not on the level of Gupton's 5%+ below invoice pricing (which I would agree deserves the title "deal of a lifetime" for most folks).

I got into a 35 mph crash in April that impacted my front right wheel and totaled the other vehicle.

I just got it back from the body shop on Friday, seven months later. The total to repair was north of $32k... they replace the frame, front axle assembly, and several smaller ticket items.

I would hope they decide to total it and give you a generous offer that will put you well on the way to driving a new gladiator (with a new warranty) to help last a bit longer in retirement.

It's probably repairable but it will take them forever to find everything wrong and wait for the parts to arrive.

In the market today there isn't a chance it's worth more than what he bought it for and no one paid $33,545 for a new sport s in 2020. You would of been lucky to find a Sport S for under $41,000 in 2020.
I guess we were lucky: my 2020 JT Sport S, bought in May 2020, cost us $37,642.

It came with the following equipment/accessories:

* 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine w/ESS
* Customer PReferred Package 2TS
* Black Freedom Top 3-piece hard top
* full tank of gas
* Black interior color
* Hardtop Headliner
* 8-speed Automatic 850RE transmission
* Customer Preferred Package 24S
* 50 State Emissions
* Gator Clear Coat Paint
* Trailer Tow Package
* All-Weather Slush Mats

According to the window sticker the MSRP was $42,505.

Driving home from work last night, guy in a late ‘90’s Silverado runs a stop sign and I
t-bone him. He tries to leave (later he tells the cop he thought he had an outstanding DWI warrant, turns out he didn’t) but can’t because his left front wheel is at a 90 degree vertical angle. He tries to tell the cop I was speeding, the cop tells him not only was I not speeding but I had the right of way because I didn’t have a stop sign. Also he’s insured by a high risk company so I’m sure they’re going to be fun to deal with.
It went on a flatbed to a body shop I’ve used in the past. Not sure if it’s totaled or not, too soon to speculate. I’m ok except for a sprained wrist & cut’s & bruises on my hands. The seatbelt & air bag did their jobs.
If it is totaled I face a dilemma. My wife & I both made the decision about 6 months ago
that she would “retire” early (we’re both 58) & stay home with our grandsons. This cut our income in half. Our house & both vehicles are paid off & really don’t want to take on a payment right now. We’ll have to see what happens.

And so the games begin.
Heard from the adjuster yesterday afternoon late. The fine upstanding citizen had state minimum liability coverage so he’s saying that they will only pay a maximum of $25000.00 for everything outside of my medical bills. My insurance is now involved. The shop hasn’t done a formal estimate yet but they think it can be repaired for less than that. Stay tuned.

Glad you are ok. Worst part about driving is the other drivers. The outside just appears to be slightly more than minor; grill, bumper, right side fender and QP. Obvious air bad deploy. Radiator and what ever is close to the grill. I see very good odds to being repaired. Bumper and winch upgrade time so you can have some fun times with eh grandkids. My granddaughter loves the open air drives (my kids too) Props to having it paid off already !! Ill be a great grandpa before that happens for me HAHAHAHA

I was hit back in May and the guy had cheap, state minimum coverage. I got some pushback from his insurance, so I had mine take over and handle the rest. They pretty much milked his insurance, got my truck fixed with an axle upgrade, and it all worked out.

Glad it wasn't worse. At least your windshield didn't crack. That's a solid machine right there.

Might have to lawyer up. When my wife was hit they threw out a low-ball number and I rejected it. The next time they called I gave them the lawyers number I had hired. They immediately almost doubled the first number they had said but I let the lawyer do his thing. Let's just say it worked out to my wife's advantage.

First of all i am glad you are
Okay!

I’m sure shadows papa will have his last novel length word, but all really depends on 3 things;

1- his insurance stance, their cheap and they will offer less… but they obviously took on someone that is high risk for the reward of higher insurance cost to their client, or they have a volume of these jokers. Guess what? They lost in this case because you and your insurance company will fight.

2- your insurance hardball negotiation. If you've been with this insurance company for a while and you have a writer on your insurance for replacement cost +, you should be okay. Your insurance company is not in the business of loosing money and a good company will go after the other company especially in your case where the other driver violated basic motor vehicle law.
Did the other driver get a ticket? ( I scanned this thread so may have missed it)
One more thing on insurance, with upgrades make sure your insurance company is aware of them as well as you take pictures and keep receipts for labor and cost of your upgrades. My insurance company and many will again allow a writer to be added for cost plus and your replacement vehicle, at no extra cost to you, which includes a vehicle that is up to 2 years newer.
3- stay after them and follow up with your agent daily on progress at the beginning. Then let them do their work.

value of the Gladiator is all over the place.In my state used JTs are going for ridiculous prices.

while your at it make sure you have a cap on your auto insurance liability, especially for injuries. This limits your liability to that which the insurance agrees to pay. This protects all other assets like your house and retirement etc.
Best of luck to you!
